A few years ago I set a side a part of the lawn to grow wild and allow nature to take its course by providing habitats for invertebrates , birds and mammals to thrive. All sorts of plants, grasses and wild flowers grew and I’m sure it’s no coincidence that I’ve spotted creatures that I’ve bever seen before! One being an enormous ‘Deaths Head Hawkmoth Caterpillar’ crawling through the grass- I have been reliably informed that these are very rare and only 17 have been recorded in Pembrokeshire since 1875!
Two more species I’ve never seen before (but apparently ‘common’) - an Orange Ladybird with white spots and and Larch Ladybird with no spots.
Also, plenty of Mullein Moth Caterpillars and an array of butterflies including these Small Tortoiseshell , Speckled Wood and a Holly Blue (I think?!)
We’re pleased to say that we are being rewarded with an abundance of wildlife here at Hafan Fach and that we are doing our bit to provide a haven for wildlife when so many are becoming lost.

The Glamping season has definitely begun 🏕the lighter nights gives you more time to enjoy the beautiful countryside views from the pod and your very own private hot tub. There’s so much to do in the local area from spotting otters at Bosherston Lily Ponds, walking the spectacular Coast Path, enjoying the magnificent beaches of Freshwater West, Broadhaven South and Barafundle!🏄🏼🏖 to catching up on your history with a visit to Pembroke Castle.
