Some great work recently by one of our peatland teams working on the beautiful Invercauld Estate 👌🏻

Another peatland restoration project has been taking place at Invercauld this year – this time in the aptly named Mosses. This is about 6km north-west of Balmoral Castle and is part of the largest single expanse of peat hags at Invercauld.

The photo shows the dramatic- and quick – effect of reprofiling and blocking a gully. The dark, exposed peat has been reprofiled and revegetated from nearby donor turf to stop it eroding further, and the water flow has been slowed by dams. This improves the habitat for insects and birdlife and stops the further release of carbon from the surrounding peat mass by protecting it from being eroded further.

With thanks to contractors Fankertons and a grant and guidance administered by the CNPA, a Peatland ACTION delivery partner reporting directly to the Scottish Government.

Also require an operator for general plant hire works, for a 20 ton excavator with GPS, work is near Inverness, long term work for the right operator, GPS experience, CPCS or NPORS with CSCS hologram accepted and safety critical medical also required.

New delivery this week just in time to start on a new peat restoration site, these machine have proved themselves over the years as widespreads for us in some really challenging terrain in very remote parts of the country.

Fitted with steelwrist tilt rotator to make the job more efficient with less machine movements meaning lower impact in sensitive area.😅

JCB fastrac being utilised to get us further in to sites than can be achieved with road vehicles which is vital to us saving many working hours. 🚜 💨
