The Green Homes Grant announced last week by Rishi Sunak raised a few questions with homeowners and installers alike.

Below is some of the key points of the scheme in anticipation of its launch in September of this year

- You can claim 2/3 of the cost of the works up to a maximum of £5,000. Low income households are eligible for 100% of the cost up to £10,000

- It will cover triple and double glazing, draught proofing, loft and floor insulation, energy efficient doors and low energy light bulbs. There may be other services included but its unknown at this time

- Homeowners will more than likely have to have their home ''assessed,'' possibly through getting an up to date Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)

- Homeowners apply for the voucher and once the work is done, they receive the funds to pay the tradesmen

- Only accredited tradesmen are eligible to carry out the works.

- The funding for the scheme is £2 billion

From this information above, I would suggest that the funding for this will run out relatively quickly, so if you are a homeowner/landlord, then act quickly.
