Some of my regular weekly and fortnightly customers have finally reached the point where the lists are mostly ticked off ✅

So I now have space opening up for a couple more regular clients, alongside adhoc quick tasks.

If you have a running list of inside or outside jobs and would like help making progress, please visit https://fixitmatt.co.uk to reserve some time or arrange a chat about your projects.

The sort of work that sits between DIY and needing multiple trades - repairs, adjustments, improvements and all the practical bits that keep a home running smoothly.

🗓️ 3 months of Fix IT Matt!!

I started this to keep things simple - help people, do good work, leave things better than I found them.

3 months in, here’s a snapshot of what that’s looked like:

Dripping taps ✅
Bath panels & resealing ✅
Door locks & adjustments ✅
Picture & mirror hanging ✅
Garage doors repaired & painted ✅
Outdoor jobs & general fixes ✅
Small electrical jobs (lights, switches, fans) ✅
Shelving, rails & storage ✅
Garden furniture refreshing ✅

Some jobs quick and tidy, others a bit more involved - but always aiming for a proper job, done thoughtfully.

And each week usually ends up summarised by what’s in my pockets…

I’ve really appreciated the trust, the chats, and being invited into people’s homes and businesses to help.

If you’ve been thinking “I must sort that…” - now’s a good time especially for garden spaces usable again, just in case that sunshine makes an appearance.

Firstly, huge thank you to those who recommend and tag me in posts, it means it’s authentic feedback.

If I’m tagged in a post… I’m really enjoying not being in front of a screen and so I may not read the posts I’m tagged in.

If you visit my website, fixitmatt.co.uk, each of the contact methods ie Phone, WhatsApp, Booking will all get a response.

I always get back to people, even if it’s a task I can’t help with.

Fix IT Matt - a helpful human tackling small jobs that make a big difference. Home, tech & everyday handy help in and around Ross-on-Wye.

It’s been another busy few weeks.

There’s a nice pattern emerging in the jobs I’ve been doing:

1. Attaching things to walls – paintings, mirrors, TVs, shelves ✅

2. Doors – sticking latches, failed locks, trimming ✅

3. IT & design – websites, tech setup and support ✅

Nothing massively technical.
It’s usually just having the right box of 200 fixings, the right tools, and the experience to get it sorted properly.

That means you can get on with what you’re good at - or just enjoy your spare time.

I love solving problems and fixing the small things that make a big difference.

If I can help with your task, just get in touch.

Worth a watch... Guy Martin's House without bills, you'll find it on Channel4 catch up.

Big upgrades make good TV - heat pumps, solar, full retrofits and so it’s great to see the subject of making homes cheaper to run getting some airtime lately.

The reality though? Many of us simply can’t afford that level of change right now, want the disruption, or are nervous of grant schemes.

A few years ago I started “Better Buildings” because I believed homes could be warmer, healthier and more efficient. It's the right idea. Just the wrong time.

What I’ve realised is that most houses don’t need a revolution first - they need sensible, affordable quick wins, for now.

Stopping uncontrolled draughts. Insulating the right places. Improving ventilation properly so we don’t create damp as a side effect.

I’ve trained to Passivhaus Retrofit standards, but day-to-day I focus on practical improvements that make a difference now, helping making a house a home.

It's best to have a large temperature difference to thermally inspect houses, and so if you are thinking of finding out where you might be losing heat, book in while we are still in the colder months.

Plus, it been an absolute pleasure creating a new logo and website for our local bike shop, Revolutions Cycles.

The new site is clean and deliberately low-noise, reflecting how Nic and Jo run the business - friendly, knowledgeable, and properly local. A great family-run bike shop with loads of experience behind it, and it's been here since 1921!

I’ve added Circular & Sustainable to my website 🌿

Before I worked with buildings, I spent years in IT as a Mac specialist — helping people understand complex systems so they could make informed choices, not just follow the latest thing.

That way of thinking carried over into buildings.

Older homes are systems too. Materials interact, moisture moves, and the wrong “modern fix” can quietly cause problems later on.

My focus isn’t trends or labels - it’s compatibility.

Using materials that suit the building, the people living in it, and the job at hand.

I apply this thinking even to the smallest jobs, and I’m always happy to explain why something works (or doesn’t), without judgement or pressure.

If you’re curious about how your home actually behaves - or just want a job done thoughtfully - that’s very much my thing.
