This is an outstanding insight into the history of the Life building, in Dronfield. We started making plans for the development of the building with Life in 2018; we’re excited to see the work started as soon as possible!

This is the existing data going into the building model, with the exterior of the church building now around 90% complete.

We decided to model the building in a fair amount of detail at an early stage, to ensure that inexperienced stakeholders would be able to easily recognise the spaces, and when the time comes, see the benefits of the proposals.

DesignXY has been working with our friends at Life Dronfield on their project since 2018 - they were our first major client!

We've mentioned this project to a lot of people over the years as exemplifying what we stand for - people-centric design and breathing new life into buildings.

Kris, our director, got talking to Jon at Twin Polygon over the summer as they realised that both companies shared a common workflow, with Autodesk software and Twinmotion / Unreal Engine.

Following discussions with Life Dronfield, Twin Polygon were appointed to produce a VR model of the Life building, generated from the working Revit model developed by DesignXY.

Jon then brought his photogrammetry skills to the project and the results speak for themselves. There are now no questions about what the building will be used for, or what the spaces will look like.

Another project reaches the Practical Completion milestone! Our initial involvement on the Ryegate Road project goes back around four years, but that time has been spent discussing details and finding the right contractor to see the work through to completion. Well done to Downing & Smith Developments, for such a great job.

It’s always nice to be invited back for a project retrospective, this one creating an extended living space for a lovely family in Sheffield.

The brief was to bring more daylight into the rear of the house and create a bridging element between the dining room and the garden; i.e. blurring the line between inside and outside.

Getting on for ten years since completion, the fully opening corner glazing is still a talking point between the homeowners and visitors.

Kris, our director is working every Friday until February / March 2025, on Phase 1 of the design and construction of our project at .

It’s an immense privilege to be appointed to advise the Trustees of the charity, in our capacity as and .

The vision for the project is to create a community hub… “a space for everyone”… in the heart of this popular historic town, in North East Derbyshire.

It’s been great to see the impact already, of opening the Life Dronfield office as an ongoing presence in the community, to answer questions about what’s next.

There have been a number of open day events recently, presenting the vision to the public and potential stakeholders. It’s interesting to see the images of ‘what will be’ contrasting against ‘what is’.

and are doing an incredible job of building interest and momentum around the vision for the project and the plans for delivery over the next few years.
