Courtyard Transformation

This courtyard was completely stripped back, with the old block paving removed and the ground reworked to correct levels and improve drainage. We installed a premium natural stone patio, added oak sleeper planters, oak cladding for warmth and character, and finished with a freshly rendered feature wall to tie everything together.

The result is a clean, practical outdoor space that flows beautifully from the house through to the garden beyond – built to last and finished with real attention to detail.

Oak Barn is a complete 1-bedroom barn conversion where we focused on preserving original character while delivering a high-quality modern finish.

Key Features and Work Completed:

🔨 Restored Original Structure
We retained and restored the exposed oak beams bringing the building’s original framework back to life while strengthening the roof and internal structure.

🏡 Modern Layout and Fit-Out
A new internal layout was created to form an open-plan kitchen/living space and a light comfortable bedroom.
We fitted a shaker-style kitchen modern electrics updated plumbing and a contemporary shower room.

🧱 Exterior Improvements
The brickwork was repaired and repointed and new timber windows and doors were installed.
Level access was created with new paving and improved drainage.

🌿 Finishing Touches
Durable LVT flooring fresh decoration and new joinery helped blend rustic character with a clean modern feel.

Willow Barn is one of the largest conversions on the site. We transformed the original brick barn into a spacious three-bedroom home with two new bathrooms and a bright open-plan layout while keeping the agricultural character at the centre of the design.

Key Features and Work Completed:

🔨 Major Structural Work
We opened up the main elevation to create the large timber-framed entrance and restored the surrounding brick arch to its original shape.
The roof structure was strengthened and fitted with modern insulation to meet current standards while keeping the exposed beams visible upstairs.

🏡 Complete Internal Layout Creation
New studwork was installed to form three bedrooms including a master with a Juliet balcony and two modern bathrooms.
The ground floor was redesigned to create a generous open-plan kitchen dining and living space with new flooring electrics and plumbing throughout.

🛁 Two New Bathrooms
We installed a contemporary family bathroom with a feature bath and a separate shower room with a modern tiled finish.
Both rooms were fitted with upgraded ventilation rooflights and new heating systems.

🪵 Joinery and Finishing
Custom timber windows and doors were fitted to keep the traditional barn look and match the neighbouring properties.
New skirting architrave internal doors and staircase joinery completed the interior finish.

🧱 Exterior Upgrades
The original brickwork was repaired cleaned and repointed then finished with new paving around the perimeter and fully fenced gardens for each plot.

🌿 Final Touches
A fresh neutral colour scheme and durable LVT flooring helped tie the new layout together while keeping the building’s character front and centre.

Ash Barn is a full two-bedroom conversion completed with a focus on preserving the original brickwork and character features while creating a practical modern home inside.

Key Features and Work Completed:

🔨 Retention of Original Character
We restored the existing brick arches and timber openings then fitted new custom timber windows and doors to match the look of the original building.
The circular feature window was rebuilt and finished to frame the countryside views.

🏡 Complete Interior Rebuild
New stud walls were installed to form two bedrooms an open-plan kitchen and a bright living area.
We fitted a modern shaker kitchen updated all plumbing and electrics and installed a new bathroom with rooflight ventilation.

🪵 Beams and Carpentry
The original roof trusses were cleaned and treated then left exposed to highlight the barn’s structure.
New internal doors and joinery were fitted throughout to complement the natural timber tones.

🧱 External Works
The brickwork was repaired and repointed and the garden area was formed with new fencing paving and pathways.
We installed new drainage and a fresh gravel frontage to complete the approach to the property.

🌿 Finishing Touches
New LVT flooring and a neutral colour scheme helped create a warm modern finish while keeping the agricultural character visible.

Elm Barn is a full 2-bedroom conversion where we aimed to keep the original charm of the building while creating a modern practical layout for everyday use.

Key Features and Work Completed:

🔨 Structural Restoration
We restored the original beams and strengthened the roof structure to support the new insulated build-up.
New internal walls were constructed to form two comfortable bedrooms and an open-plan living area.

🏡 Modern Interior Fit-Out
The barn was fully rewired and replumbed then fitted with a shaker-style kitchen and a contemporary shower room.
High-performance insulation was added to the walls floors and roof to bring the property up to modern standards.

🧱 Exterior Works
The existing brickwork was repaired and repointed and new timber windows and doors were installed to suit the original agricultural look.
Improved drainage and new external surfaces were added to create clean accessible entrances.

🌿 Finishing Details
LVT flooring fresh decoration and careful joinery work helped balance the rustic features with a bright modern feel.

✨ Pinfold Barn Conversion – Before and After ✨

Before we started this project the barns were in a very poor state with collapsed brickwork rotten timbers broken windows and years of wear from farm use. Every building needed significant structural repairs before any work on the new layouts could begin.

We stripped everything back to the original frames and rebuilt the site section by section. This included repairing large areas of damaged brickwork replacing roof timbers fitting new windows and doors and making each structure safe and weatherproof again.

Once the barns were stabilised we began forming the new homes inside. All plumbing electrics insulation and flooring were installed from scratch and every barn was given its own layout kitchen and bathrooms. Wherever possible we kept original features like the beams brick arches and existing openings to show the age of the buildings.

The outside areas also needed full redevelopment. We removed old concrete broken walls and farm waste then rebuilt the courtyards with new patios pathways drainage and fenced gardens for each plot.

Huge transformation from where we began and the next posts will show the finished barns one by one along with more before and after photos.

Thank you to all the trades involved throughout the project including the bricklayers joiners roofers plumbers electricians plasterers groundworkers and decorators who helped bring the barns back to life.
