Treewilding recently celebrated a huge success - we just harvested the trees from our first tree table at the Strathkinness Community Garden!

It took about an hour to harvest these 400 trees, and the quality of the roots on these yearlings is absolutely astonishing.

Most importantly, this harvest was one of just THREE sessions required to produce over 400 trees from seed in our tree table:
In the first session, we built the table.
In the second session, we planted the seeds/seedlings.
In the third session, we harvested the trees.

Our tree tables are designed to look after themselves, and the results don't lie, this technology is perfect for small communities to grow hundreds of healthy, locally-sourced native trees with minimal intervention.

At £1/tree, the table has paid for itself in a single year. We estimate the table should last 10 years.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the Trees For Life nursery at Dundreggan, a beautiful spot and a wonderfully managed initiative.

Gill was kind enough to tell us about the challenges of managing the nursery, and showed us some amazing techniques for propagating some rare species from seed. Most notably aspen and montane willows, trees once common across Scotland which are now endangered due to historical forestry, overgrazing and active management of estates for sporting activities.

While visiting the information centre I was lucky enough to bump into Alan Watson Featherstone, the unassumingly approachable yet incredibly inspiring founder of Trees for Life. Reading about Alan and his story in several rewilding books played a huge part in motivating me to create Treewilding.

This really was a "meet your hero" moment for me!

Alan's story proves that individuals with dreams can make a big difference, and that Scotland has a healthy balance with a wild and beautiful nature among its possible futures.

🌱🌳 Introducing Treewilding CIC! 🌳🌱

We're thrilled to announce the launch of our new venture aimed at growing trees in innovative, sustainable ways.

At Treewilding CIC, we utilise and promote "Tree Tables": pest-proof, self-watering air pruning beds that ensure our trees thrive from seed to sapling. 🌿

We have our own tables, where we grow thousands of native trees for donation to local rewilding projects here in Fife.

We're also building tables for other local communities, to help them meet their own tree needs and tackle climate change together. Most recently, we built a Tree Table at Ravenscraig Walled Gardens, empowering them to grow their own trees with our air pruning techniques and principles.

Here's the team standing proudly next to the table! 📸

It's our mission to make tree growing accessible to everyone. We envision Micro Nurseries all over Scotland, with local communities banding together to produce the thousands of native trees that Scotland will need planted in the coming years. 🌍🤝

Join us on our journey to create more space for nature and make a lasting environmental impact. If you want a Tree Table or are planning a rewilding project which may need trees, please get in touch. Or simply stay tuned for more updates!
