Stained Glass, Channel Crossings, and Soul Restoration: Panel 5 is Done! 🧡

We traveled by train on Saturday, and it was a tough, bumpy ride for my sore feet. When we finally arrived, I went straight into Nan’s wet room before I even said hello to her!
Getting squeaky clean was the absolute best feeling afterward, and her stair-free bungalow is a total dream for my chair. Huge sigh of relief today too—my son, sister, and the kids made it safely through Le Shuttle, landed in France, and are already having a great time. 🇫🇷

Panel 5 is officially finished! All 6 rows of the Sedge Stitch are complete, and I’m ready to frame it with a row of half treble crochet (htr) in Deep Purple to keep our stained-glass window theme going. Working those interlocking Bright Green 💚 and Light Turquoise 🩵 hearts over a 206-stitch runway was a beautiful monstrosity, but it worked up so fast!

I also hit a massive personal milestone on Sunday night and made it to Christchurch—the exact church I was christened and confirmed in 20 years ago. I crocheted during worship, took communion, and was prayed for. The service asked a big question: “If Jesus said ‘you’re coming to paradise now,’ what would you say?” To be honest, paradise to me means a totally healed body with no pain, access to friends, being accepted again, walking on grass and sand, and needing no mobility aids. My physical body would long for that pain-free life, but I’m just not ready to leave my family yet... I left church feeling overwhelmed, slightly more rested but totally hyped up too. My soul felt a deep restoration. 🕊️

The Wheels Have Spoken: Panel 5 Revealed! 🎰🎡
Well, my pages left me completely on read with zero votes on the stitch poll! 🤦‍♀️🏼
But that is the beauty of a chaos blanket. It just means the chaos pot gets to stage a total takeover of the factory floor!
To keep things simple from my pillows during this heavy flare, I decided to switch things up and set up a digital choice wheel on my screen.
It makes choosing the next steps so much easier when my hands are too tired to fumble with physical lolly sticks or pots in bed.
I actually ended up adding three extra ballot options because I realized I could flip the color dominance and do the stitches the opposite way round! That brought my wheel up to 8 custom texture slots. 🎨✨

Spoiler alert: It’s the Sedge Stitch (Bright Green main 💚 with Light Turquoise hearts 🩵) for exactly 6 rows 📏.
I have never attempted the Sedge Stitch before, and since my row wheel left me with 6 rows, there goes my plan for an easy, quick row! 😂
Learning a brand new texture with 206-stitch rows while battling this pain is definitely going to test my flaring fingers. But I’ve already tackled the first green row and the interlocking turquoise hearts are sitting beautifully under my lamp. Stay Cozy!

MY GOD SAYS: Posture Over Circumstance 🧡
I’ve been holding onto last Sunday’s sermon on Psalm 56 all week. Being stuck bed-bound for 6 and a half weeks now with this brutal CRPS flare, sprained ankles, and double fractures from my wheelchair ramp fall makes the “What ifs” get so loud. What if the burning fire never stops? What if I never gain my independence back?
I’ve been sitting in this deepest valley for nearly 3 years now, and sometimes it is so hard to trust when you’ve been left in pain for that long.
But the message reminded me of a huge truth: trusting God doesn’t magically fix our circumstances, but it completely changes our posture.
It moves us from feeling defeated to the posture of a warrior resting at her prepared table.
When the pain tries to paralyze me, I’m choosing to stand on His authority. 👑
I may never be healed of CRPS, but I don’t have to just sit in that. I can crochet, raise awareness, and share my faith, my prayers, and the raw, unedited truth right from my bednest. God’s answer is never ever no—it’s just “Not Yet.”
My God says He is faithful, My God Says I can trust him so that is exactly what I’m going to do.

My Final Takeaway on Psalm 23 🧡

As I am beginning my coloring page this morning, I’ve been thinking about this whole challenge as a unified piece.

I realized something pretty big.

The psalm shows me that God provides everything I need, no matter how hard or good life gets.
His relationship has to be held above absolutely everything else in our lives. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be the very first line of the psalm. 🐑

And every single promise in those verses is meant to last. Just like that final line says—it is Forever.I need to keep praying that over myself and remembering it through this flare.

God’s unfailing love is forever.
He will
hold me,
guide me,
protect me,
and heal me.
He provides real rest and refreshment for my spirit for all my days, and so much more. 🧡

The Fuchsia Fringe: 12 Rows & Relentless Hope 🧡

After a brutal CRPS flare kept me completely bed-bound, I spent my quiet hours watching The Chosen.
Hearing Jesus look at the lady who bled for 12 years and validate her exhaustion was a holy gut punch to my heart.
Lying there in pain, my crafter’s eye caught a beautiful connection.
I was right in the middle of a massive 12-row marathon block of the Mixed Loop Stitch in Fuchsia Pink. 🧶💗

I channeled my exhaustion into my stitches, praying for healing with every thread.

This valley is pure Testing, but I fear no evil because I have Protection, and I know He is with me because of His Faithfulness.
Even though this is the biggest test of my life with no end in sight, I am trusting like Job. This time, God has finally kept me—a restoration that feels just like the end of Hosea.

Today, all 12 rows are finished! My crafter’s eye is fascinated by the texture.
My physical battle continues, but my hallelujah is baked permanently into these rows.

The Valley, the Table, and the Reckless Love 🧡
Day 3 of my church’s Psalm 23 challenge is all about
“You Prepare a Table Before Me.” 🕊️

If I am being honest, saying “The Lord is my Shepherd” can feel tricky for me. My history with faith and church community has been complicated, and when life teaches you that people leave when things get too hard—especially at the beginning of my CRPS journey—it makes it hard to feel loved at all.

I used to feel like I was failing because I couldn’t write beautiful prayer journals over my morning coffee or speak easily in the quiet like some people do. But as I’m listening to Reckless Love and Gratitude tonight from my bednest, I am realizing my takeaway for this valley.
Verse 5 says: “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.”
My enemies are this constant, burning CRPS flare, the isolation of these four walls, and my swollen, locked-up feet. Yet right here on my lap, God has prepared a table for me. And on that table, He gave me six beautiful, straight, thick rows of Fuchsia Pink yarn. 🧶💗

I’m learning that my crochet hook is my pen, and this blanket is my coffee journal. Every single time my hands alternate between those texturing loops on the runway, I am praying with my stitches. I might not have access to a physical church right now, but I am building a sanctuary right under my navy blue duvet.

Even when I am quiet or disconnected, He always chases me down to reconnect and leaves the 99 just to pull me back into His safety. Like Brandon Lake sings, I don’t need a perfect prayer anyway—all I have is a hallelujah, and right now, my hallelujah is stitched right into these rows. 🧡

The Bednest Factory Notes: Summer Playlists & Bedside Prayers 🧡

Day 2 of my church's Psalm 23 challenge is all about “He Restoreth My Soul.” 🕊️

Living with a chronic, complex condition like CRPS—on top of fresh sprained ankles and a fractured foot—means constant, excruciating neuropathic pain. It gets so loud that I can't even wear normal socks unless I carefully crochet them myself, and even then, only for a few minutes at a time. 🧶

But while my physical body hasn’t been healed yet, I am finding an incredible, deep peace from my pillows. Leaning into my faith is softening my heart and teaching me how to be at peace in the quiet pastures.
