You may wish to complete this survey on the plans for the " Community garden" at Hickings Lane.
All green space is good: however Stapleford has the Allotments and the DIG-IN Community Garden on the Albany site : duplication might not be helpful. Also what is created at Hickings Lane needs to be maintainable over time.

Hickings Lane Community Garden – Community Survey

We’re developing plans for a new community garden next to Hickings Lane Community Centre in Stapleford. Your ideas will help design the garden and show support us creating a impactful and community led space. This short survey takes about 5 minutes. Thank you for being part of it!

Allotments Helping Households Save Thousands!

Did you know allotments are helping UK households cope with the cost-of-living crisis?

Growing your own fruit and vegetables not only provides fresh, seasonal produce, but can save hundreds of pounds a year.

Recent research in Brighton & Hove found allotments produce the equivalent of £1.12 million of food annually—a clear sign of their financial and community value.

We believe demand remains high, as more people turn to growing their own to reduce reliance on expensive supermarket produce. Beyond savings, allotments offer mental health benefits, gentle exercise, and strong community connections.

We are very fortunate in Stapleford to have 5 allotment sites across the town and a range of plot sizes. In many areas allotment waiting lists are very long, but in Stapleford there are currently opportunities for new tenants. The Town Council have put a lot of work in over the last 2 years on site improvements and have partnered with the Allotment Association [ SDGHA] on projects. The future looks bright!

Thankyou to to Stapleford Town Council for the new signage being rolled out across the 5 Allotment sites. Not only do they look very smart they also raise the profile and the importance of the Allotments across the community: " A community asset" they most certainly are.
