Today’s Findings 😳…. (Worth a read if you’ve ever inherited a stove in a property you’ve purchased)
A D.I.Y SPECIAL….
A while ago I received a call from a lady who’d just moved into a property and wanted the glass changing on her stove!
A nice simple job soon turned into uncovering a multitude of errors and what could’ve been a potentially disastrous outcome!
This stove was installed incorrectly but to most people (even property surveyors) it looks normal/okay/nice…
But again, the bits you don’t see were massively dangerous.
After soon spotting a couple of failings with the install, I decided to investigate further.
Into the loft space, I soon noticed this wasn’t done by somebody that knew any basic knowledge of how stoves work and how hot and dangerous they can be.
Chimney flue pipe touching plasterboards, supported by timber, propped up with a bit more timber.. all things that can catch fire quite easily.
The photos don’t do it justice 😳
Luckily, it was spotted before the lady had chance to really use her “new fire” and the problem was solved before it could’ve been a lot worse!
Take a look at the pics to see the extent of my findings, and to see a job done properly and SAFE.
