It’s nearly spring, here are the top tips to get your lawn ready:

1. Keep having your lawn treatments through the year first and for most. 😉

2. Cleanup,
Clear Debris: Remove any leaves, twigs etc

2. Early Spring Mowing
Start mowing when the grass shows active growth, usually mid to late March or April, depending on the weather.
Don't Scalp: Set your mower to the highest setting for the first few cuts, targeting a height of around 4cm. Cutting too short weakens the grass and makes it susceptible to w**ds.Sharpen your lawnmower Blades.

3. Seed if any sparse/bald areas,
Overseed Bare Patches: If winter has left bare spots, now is the perfect time to sow new grass seed.

4. Scarifying and Aeration
Scarifying removes dead thatch, and nose and revives your lawn from the winter. Please message for a price, we normally do this around March/April (weather dependant)
If your soil is compacted from winter, book in for hollow-tine aerator to make holes. This allows oxygen, water, and nutrients to reach the roots. Again reach out for a quote, we carry this out at the same time as scarifying.

5. Transitioning to Summer
Increase Height: As the weather gets warmer, raise your mower blades to 50mm (2 inches). Longer grass shades the soil, reduces water evaporation, and keeps the roots cooler.
Water Wisely: If a dry spell occurs, water deeply and infrequently (early morning is best) rather than light, daily watering.

Hope this helps 😊

Please don’t forget to recommend a friend and get £10 off your next treatment after they receive their first treatment at a promotional rate if £15 (on average sized lawns)

SCARIFYING

What are the benefits of scarifying:

Removes harmful levels of thatch.
Allows water to reach the soil.
Helps air to reach the roots Allows nutrients to reach roots so when we fertilise it will reach lower..
Stimulates grass roots which encourages growth.
Removes moss and dead w**ds and grass.
Reduces the chance of future moss issues

Why should you have a scarifcation?

Scarifications should be carried out at least once a year to remove any organic matter such as thatch, dead grass and moss formed around the base of your lawn. It also helps reduce the uneven growth of the grass.

The best time do do a scarification is:
Spring and early autumn. The exact date is depending on both the weather and the conditions of the ground.

If you would like to book in drop us a message limited availability in certain areas 💚

We are heading into winter and you’ve probably done your last grass cut of the year. In the next week or 2 weeks we will be switching to our full winter treatment. This means no w**d spraying but extra vitamins and minerals within the feed. This is brown in colour and smells strong but also dissolves very quickly. We don’t spray the w**ds at this time because,
1) you are not cutting the lawn. How a selective herbicide works is completely different to a total w**d killer. It selects the w**d not the grass then the w**d drinks the herbicide to the root where it dies. Then you cut your lawn and w**d comes out. Where as a total w**d killer, kills everything around it and makes it go brown and shrivels up.

2) the w**ds are not growing at the pace they do in spring and summer so their need to drink is minimal so it doesn’t have as much effect on them.

So this is why our winter treatment is focused more on getting the right vitamins and minerals into your lawn to help it tackle the harsh winter months.

Our process is relatively quick so at winter with everything being in one container it is slightly quicker. Please do not think you are getting a lesser service, you are getting the same service and the better product for your lawns needs.

OVERSEEDING.

adding new grass seed to your lawn, offers lots of benefits alongside your regular treatments;
it thickens the lawn, improves the grass color and health, and helps to control w**ds and moss. A denser lawn is more resistant to diseases, pests, and environmental stresses like drought. Moss sets in when your lawn is sparse, filling it out with treatments and over seeds makes the moss harder to attack. It also looks good 😉

We still are in the growing seasons so ask for more info and we can give you a quote for this.
