Keep an eye out for the hoggies!

Garden safely this spring – check for hidden hedgehogs before mowing or strimming, and avoid harmful products. 🦔🌷

Hedgehogs may be nesting in the garden in log, leaf or compost piles, or even long grass. So make sure you cut grass or shrubs to a height of a couple of feet so nesting hedgehogs will be more visible.

And if you're using a fork, be careful and only put it where you can see it going.

Remember, when tidying up your garden this weekend, step away from using those nasty chemicals and leave a patch wild and undisturbed to provide food and shelter for all the small animals that take refuge in a bit of the untidy!🏡🦋🌾

*EDIT* to set people's minds at rest, in response to a query on another page, it is NOT illegal to cut garden boundary hedges at this time of year, providing no damage is done to wildlife. We are a long-established professional gardening company, and we are fully aware of the legalities of what we do.

This week I’ve been tackling an overgrown privet hedge. Here’s my work in progress.

Step 1. Check the hedge for nesting birds, and any obstacles. This looks straightforward enough.
Step 2. Set to work and shape the hedge, cutting back excess growth.
Step 3. Go back over the hedge to ensure shaping is even and accurate.
Step 4. Clear away the debris.
