Planting a mix of native wildflowers and herbaceous perennials is one of the simplest ways to welcome butterflies and moths into your garden.
By growing nectar- rich blooms for adults and larval food plants for caterpillars you can support every stage of their life cycle - boosting local populations and helping biodiversity thrive.🐛🦋

Adding perennials with interesting foliage brings movement, texture and a soft contrast to areas of your garden.
Here are our top 3 favourites from the nursery which return year after year and offer standout foliage features.
✨Foeniculum vulgare ‘Purpureum’ Purple fennel creates an architectural focus growing over 1m tall. The feathery purple-
bronze foliage is followed by small yellow flower heads later in the summer as a bright contrast. Perfect for areas of the garden in full sun.

✨Aruncus dioicus ‘Kneffii’
Cut leaved Goatsbeard is known for its delicate lacy leaves that sway in the breeze, topped with long wavy plumes of creamy white flowers. A beautiful complement to bright borders in sun or part shade, where the soil stays damp.

✨Perovskia ‘Blue Spire’
Russian sage features silvery grey stems and leaves which carry pretty violet- blue flower spikes in late summer. Thriving in sun and well drained soil, pair with purples blues and whites for a pollinator friendly garden.

Choose your favourite foliage plants direct from the nursery- we are open Wednesday- Saturday each week .

Our garden-ready range includes Herbaceous perennials, Native wildflowers, Ornamental grasses and ferns. Plants for sun or shade - we are always happy to help!

Our Garden club presentation ‘Attracting Pollinators to your Garden across the Seasons’ last night was at Hazelbury Bryan in Dorset.
Such a lovely, welcoming Garden group - interested in our talk and in browsing our pollinator friendly plants from the nursery; all ready to plant and to start attracting more wildlife to their outdoor space.

Much of the talk fitted perfectly with World Bee today raising awareness of how important bees and other pollinators are to people and the planet.
Here’s 3 top tips we can all do to help protect and increase pollinators:
🐝Plant bee friendly plants across the seasons
🐝Plant native wildflowers to blend into your space.
🐝Plant for habitat creation

It’s Foxglove season and there’s no better perennial for adding a wonderful elegance to the garden.
And of course their flowers are fantastic for pollinating insects to forage.
Plant at the back of a border to add a Foxglove focus or weave through the centre to create a Foxglove flow.
Our top 3 choices from the nursery this week:
✨ Digitalis ‘Suttons Apricot’ - a soft apricot- peach
✨ Digitalis ‘Pink Panther ‘ - with rose pink blooms
✨ Digitalis purpurea - the native foxglove in deep purple

We are open today from 10am -4pm and weekly Wednesday - Saturday .

Cuckoo flower (Cardamine pratensis) is one of our favourite wildflowers this month.

Found growing in damp meadows, pond margins, stream edge or wetland, the delicate pale pink flowers are a beautiful site.

🌸 This pretty wildflower is also known by other common names including Lady’s smock or May flower and you can see why.

👀 Look out for the Orange tip butterfly nearby whose catapillars feed on the leaves. Its nectar rich blooms attract bees, and hoverflies too and it provides vital forage at a time when insects are emerging .
