Working to restore a very beautiful but slightly overgrown garden full of herbaceous borders, meandering wild flower walks and stunning roses to its former glory.
Day 1 involved lots of weeding, planting, tidying and tying that rose back up over the house.

This amazing pollinator magnet, Buddleja globosa (Globe Buddleja) planted 3 years ago in our garden is now drawing in pollinators from miles around! Or at least it feels like it! Yesterday there was a humming bird hawk moth feeding from it! Goose bumps!
😊😍🤩
Please send in photos of good plants for pollinators in your gardens!

Shwmae pawb a penwythnos hapus! Hello everyone, happy weekend!
Hyfryd heddiw!
We have been enjoying the dramatic form and patterns of the Angelica around our wildlife pond today in the sun! It's alive with pollinators!

Rejuvinating a romantically planted area beneath a gorgeous wisteria arbor. A beautiful space which just needed some tlc.
Removing the ground elder and other problematic weeds then giving it a good sweep as the sunbeams worked their magic. Also planting out cosmos and bronze dahlias in stone pots and throughout the long border.

A dynamic, busy day in the wind and sun!
Paul built a raised bed using reused wood and fence posts. We then filled it the Hügelkultur way, a German permaculture gardening method for creating raised beds that are like living sponges- a method learnt at Denmark farm when we volunteered there. This method involved burying rotting logs, branches, and other organic matter to create a sustainable, moisture retaining, nutrient-rich, garden bed.
Alongside this was weeding, pruning, tying in a tayberry and repotting a peony and tiger lily, plus feeding each rose in the large rose garden!

This year at home we are trying to be more self sufficient. As a result we are living in chaos!

Never grown so many potatoes, so much kale and different chards. Well the washing up will have to wait!

We have made a potager kitchen garden where the rhubarb, chard and feathery dill and cosmos can show off their beautiful, colourful, textural leaves.

The Achocha 'Fat Baby' vine has just popped its head up through the soil, what will it do next!

Also masses of our favourites, pretty sweet, night and day scented stocks, sunflowers, sweet peas and cosmos.

This year I had great fun and frustration propagating aubergine seeds in the airing cupboard, I have 4 seedlings to fatten up next. Sorry everyone, towels are muddy again but we will have moussaka this summer!

Shwmae, we have some free slots available later on this month if you are looking for some gardening work! Perhaps a tidy up or a consultation to discuss some new planting ideas, whether formal, informal or wild and naturalistic.
For example, block planting of hardy perennials and wild grasses in the style of renowned garden designer and plant man Piet Oudolf! This planting style showcases the textures and forms of drifts of perennials, like a wild landscape, a priory planting offset against the movement and light through the grasses! You can enjoy stunning sculptural structures over winter too- this style is fantastic for wildlife, offering biodiversity and a low maintenance approach to gardening.
Or you might prefer a cottage style planting or a restoration of a very overgrown garden which we will do with care.
We also offer a wide range of gardening services including pruning, hedge trimming, general maintenance border design and wild flower meadow sowing. We can create wildlife ponds and new borders which we can plant up for you!
Diolch.
