1 Short Lane - a transformation!

Where to start? What with tree stumps and what looked like a neglected Veg patch it looked like a long job.

The overall task was to bring the property back to life and ensure all construction elements met building regulations.

We got stuck in, and, with a combination of hard graft, with help from a mini excavator, the foliage slowly disappeared and, our progress and ground preparation could get started.

After the ground was levelled, we could lay a substrate to take paving, creating a patio and hard surface access to all areas of the garden – with very low maintenance for the owner.

The substrate was permeable for the non-paved area so all rainwater could soak through. These areas were given a layer of 20mm gravel for an attractive finish.

We then turned to the rendering on the buildings and made good throughout. We then added several coats of external paint to ensure a long and trouble-free life for the rendered areas.

Every year there is the problem of LEAVES falling, accumulating, rotting and getting in every corner. One of our clients decided to reduce the workload of Autumn leaves and asked us to create a large leaf bin. This will save several trips to the recycling and create great leaf mould for next year

Remember Rag-rolling? a clever technique to create an overall subtle shade to your walls. The look of wallpaper but created using paint and 'rolling a rag' with a constant action to produce the finish you can see below. The other finish is by the 'sponging' technique similar but different. Both applications last used a lot in the 70's/80's. Our apprentice Izzie has mastered the effect and can give you walls a new look.

After a battle through the jungle we have replaced a fence with concrete posts and gravel board. It has removable panels and is finished to line up with the existing hedge. Hot work on a summer's day!

"The external to this property based in the Lincolnshire Wolds was totally renovated. The guttering was replaced with a seamless system. All the windows and doors were in a poor condition and in need of renovation. All rotten timber was removed and repaired using new timber and the Window Care repair system. Then all painted with the Dulux Weathershield system, 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of undercoat and 1 coat of gloss. The front porch which was falling away from the house was replaced with this hand made Oak one in our own workshops and erected on site".

This is after the repair using the Window repair system. Unlike fillers, Timbercare moves with the timber so no splitting between the repair system and the timber. For the glazing, rather than use putty, which dries up leaving gaps between the glass and the putty we used Dryseal. Again this product moves with the glass and timber so no gaps.

This was a rather poorly looking window on a farmhouse in the Lincolnshire Wolds. The customer didn't want to replace with P.V.C.u, but wanted it repairing. Repairing actually turned out to be cheaper. We used timber with the Widowcare repair system.
