The other day we completed our routine inspection with the Gas Safe inspectors.

🛠️ This Bathroom Job Surprised Us — Here’s Why

What started as a simple toilet and basin swap quickly turned into a more technical challenge.

The first issue? The bath panel.

No handles. No screws. No gaps. Nothing to grip. The usual solution would’ve been to smash it, make a mess, and replace it. But we knew there had to be a smarter way.

So we used a tile suction tool to latch onto the panel.
That gave us just enough grip and leverage to remove it safely — no cracks, no damage, no replacement needed. Just patience and the right tools.

Next problem? The water wouldn’t stop running.
• Tried the internal stopcock — still flowing
• Tried the outdoor main — same story
• Tried isolation valves and the overhead tank supply — no proper shutoff
• Even after opening all taps, the water never fully stopped

It wasn’t flooding the property, but it was a constant trickle — the kind that can damage ceilings over time.

To work around it, we adapted on the fly and kept moving. Once done, we advised the customer to replace the isolation valve, just in case there’s ever a leak — so water can be safely shut off in future.
