Not every transformation is flashy. Sometimes it’s about taking a tired house that’s seen years of scuffs, smoke stains, sticky fingerprints, peeling paint and wonky wallpaper seams, and quietly putting it right, one surface at a time for a wonderful customer ready to move in.
Colours: Ivory, Teal, White.
This project in Wick, near Littlehampton, was one of those “whole-interior” jobs. Every inch needed attention. Before the wonderful customer moved in, we:
Stripped back all the old and flaky paint.
Sanded ceilings, walls, skirting boards, door frames, window reveals, dado rails, coving, panels, stairs and bannisters.
De-greased kitchen walls (paint sticks better when the surface isn’t coated in cooking residue).
Raked out cracks and filled holes.
Caulked every gap between woodwork and plaster.
Primed bare areas and stained knotty timber so it wouldn’t bleed through.
Re-sealed around windows and doors.
Carefully masked fixtures, sockets and switches.
Dealt with the fiddly bits no one talks about: radiator pipes, under-stair corners, cupboard interiors.
Then painted: ceilings crisp white, walls smooth and even, woodwork sharp with 2 coats of fresh and high quality emulsion. Bannisters, handrails and spindles all given a clean, durable finish with quality undercoat and 2 coats of satin.
By the end, the place didn’t just look new — it felt like someone had pressed reset on the whole house. That’s the magic of before and after: from dulled-down and tired to bright, clean and ready to live in again.
