The environment is humid to enable the tropical plants to thrive. The water and nutrients are recycled back into the soil. The plants will continue to grow and develop into their containers. These terrariums are bioactive with springtails to serve as a clean-up crew.
The substrate is a bespoke homemade recipe which has many components to provide fertiliser, toxin absorption, water retention and aeration. There is a drainage layer at the base to hold any excess water. This blend ensures a long life for these terrariums.

Looking after a ‘Hand-Crafted Terrarium’:

- The terrariums need bright indirect light; for example, in a north facing window, or away from the window in a brightly lit room.
- The terrariums do not need watering.
- Generally speaking, the lid should be kept on. Once a week, take off the lid and give a little blow into the container.
- If the plants grow too big for the containers, or you want to reduce the size of a plant for aesthetic reasons, you can take a clean pair of scissors and prune the plants.
