Installed 6 pleached Ligustrum trees to create instant structure and privacy. Trees planted into heavy clay soil using an auger, with fertilisers and mycorrhizal fungi added to support strong root establishment. All trees staked deep for long-term stability.

New sleeper flower bed constructed using bitumen-treated sleepers with DPM protection against the composite fence panels. Finished with soil improver throughout and corten steel edging to give a sharp, clean finish against the lawn.

End of season at RHS Wisley, but you wouldn’t know it. The gardens are still thriving, full of colour and texture, catching the best of the autumn light.

The brief was to create a bright, busy front bed full of colour and interest while improving the soil. The existing pieris provides structure, with blight-hit box replaced by euonymus ‘Emerald & Gold’. Heuchera ‘Electra’ adds golden foliage, tiarella brings contrast and will give strong spring colour with profuse flowers, while dryopteris softens the edges. Autumn heathers and bedding plants ensure seasonal colour, and reconditioned soil is now thriving with worms.
