Penny is getting really big and she's only around 19 or 20 days old ☺️

22/07/2025

I haven't posted here for a very long time.
I suppose it's because last year my growing really wasn't great. The slugs ate everything which destroyed my mental health.

However I did have a good greenhouse season. Not much growing but beautiful and delicious watermelons, herbs and cucumbers. 😊

Over the days and weeks I'm going to share some of my TikTok videos. I did an experiment this year with 2 Clover branded composts with 2 pumpkin plants that grew looking identical.
So I called them the twins and named them Pinky and Perky ☺️

So, I'll go over to my Tikity Tokity and get the videos to share here.

But, look at this beauty ☺️

This is Penny and she's been growing on average, 5cm a day ❀️

She did 7cm since yesterday but then another 2cm today since this morning.

No! I didn't (knowingly) sow a giant pumpkin seed 🀭

Another 5cm growth on Penny Pumpkin ☺️β™₯οΈπŸŽƒ

I wonder if she'll get as big as my biggest ever pumpkin...

I haven't posted here for such a long time. Last season wasn't so great for me but this season is going okay so far.

We haven't had rain since early March. Well, nothing significant to make a difference. But today we had plenty ☺️
It was almost like I could hear the trees and the grass and the flowers and the vegetables all sighing with relief ☺️

I have the world's smallest pond lol. BUT it is always so full of frogs, as evident from this video.

I always leave this small corner of my garden as a wildlife area so I let the grass grow long and let poppies and all sorts of wild flowers grow. But I had to cut it back today because the grass had completely covered the pond and filled the pond too. PLUS I need to get to the bindweed and drag those roots out.

I had to drag the overgrown grass out of the pond and the frogs did NOT like it at all!

I had to put the grass down for a few minutes so the teeny tiny new frogs could escape, before putting the grass into my wheelbarrow where it will stay for a week just in case more frogs are hiding in there lol.

Frogs are awesome for veg growing. They eat all the things that eat all your plants 😁 (slugs, snails etc).

So, grab yourself a plastic tub, even a storage tub, bury it in the ground, pop some rocks and bricks in there so frogs have somewhere to escape, and fill with water.

Add some plants around it such as grassy and leafy type plants so the frogs have protection from the sun and predators and you've got yourself a pond that frogs will enjoy year after year after year πŸ˜‰
You don't need something huge... Which is evident from my tiny pond lol.

It feels like everyone in the UK saw the Aurora Borealis last night.
I was sound asleep 😴 πŸ˜‚
I truly didn't believe that we would get to see it, especially here in Wolverhampton where there huge light pollution, but apparently I was wrong.

However, it reminds me of last year when I was delving into learning digital art and drew this.

So, even though I didn't get to see it last night, I still get to look back to around a year ago and enjoy my digital drawing of one ☺️

It's amazing what some real sun and heat of a greenhouse can do to some plants.

These courgettes and pumpkins were almost half the size 3 days ago when I put them in my greenhouse. Look at them all happy now ☺️

They were growing on my dining table in front of my patio doors inside the house. It got lots of sun throughout the day but not as much as they're getting in the greenhouse.

I thought it would be a couple more weeks before they're big enough to plant outside, especially bevause I started them late this year, but they're proving me wrong by growing beautifully and catching up to where they should normally be at this stage if I'd sown them earlier.

This UK weather is beautiful though 😍 πŸ”₯ πŸ₯΅ lol

*walks into local hardware shop*

Me: Oooh I've never grown Big Boy and I've never grown Supersweet 100... I'll have 2 of each please 🫣

Me: I have 2 varieties of cucumber and 4 of each plant, I don't need any more and don't have space now im getting these toms...

Also me: But I've never grown this variety (f1 female) and couldnt find seeds earlier in the year...I'll have 3 of those too please 🫣

I've barred myself from the local hardware shop until they run out of vegetable plants πŸ˜‚

Hello, hello, hello πŸ‘‹
It's been a while. I didn't post here last year (that I can remember), I have no excuse for it other than laziness lol.

This year I shall do my best to post, though ☺️

Today I am digging over my vegetable beds ready for planting out.
I was late starting everything this year due to our landlord telling us she's selling.
She told us mid-season last year so I knew I couldn't grow this year BUT she rocked-up with a brand new contract for the year at the end of Feb. So early March I got sowing.

Everything is still too young to put into the garden so they're enjoying themselves in my greenhouse instead.
Hopefully by the end of the month they'll go out into their final homes.

It's a beautiful hot sunny day here in the West Midlands so I'm taking advantage of the awesome Vit- D and digging over my pumpkin patch which has sprouted lots of Forget Me Nots ☺️
And brambles from the neighbours garden πŸ˜”

Lots of tiny frogs again this year so I'll go slowly so they have time to escape.

Appy No Ears everybody 😁😍

I hope this year brings you good health, good prospects, joy, love, and your happiest dreams come true!

Mine aleady came true!
I got to spend my time with people I love! And even those who weren't here, we talked over video.
I got to read my grandson one of his favourite bedtime stories! Which, I have to admit, I enjoyed the story more than he did 🀭

This year will be blessed for all of us! For the simple reason that we are all actually STILL here!!

Let's not allow awful words, situations and emotions get the better of us this year!
Instead, let's hold our heads high with our shoulders back! And face the onslaught of whatever is thrust upon us, but do it with dignity, respect, sophistication, and, of course, the sheer will to not knock the heads off of people so we don't have to spend our lives in jail 😳🫣 lol

Let's take in a good deep breath! Then keep on pushing and moving forward towards our dreams and happiness and justice!

Find peace in your heart and in yourself FOR yourself, and keep on moving towards whatever ot is you're working towards and wanting in life, no matter how extreme or hard you may think it is!

If I got to have just 1 new years wish!...

I would wish that all of my friends and family got to have their dreams come true!

So that is MY wish this year.

This is your year!πŸ’™πŸ©΅

Love you all Squillions.

Happy New year πŸ’œπŸ§‘

I've never been able to grow bell peppers. I only got 1 per plant and the earwigs would burrow themselves into it or the slugs would feat on it, so I never got to taste my homegrown bell peppers.

Well this Yr they're calling me a liar πŸ«£πŸ˜‚

Seeds taken from a store bought Bell peppers and grown in my greenhouse... Maybe that's why I have more growing!
Maybe bell peppers are too 'boujiee' to grow out doors like their cousins the sweet peppers πŸ˜‚

FYI. The text on my images is because a guy is stealing vegetable pics and passing them off as his own. He even making money from the images.
His page is Garden Dude or Gardening Dude.... Be mindful when sharing your veggie achievements.
