💧 Watering Your Hostas the Right Way 💧
Happy hostas start with smart watering! 🌿
Hostas are known for their lush foliage and elegant form — but to keep them thriving, especially through the warmer months, they need consistent, deep watering.
Here’s how to water your hostas like a pro:
🕰️ Timing Is Everything
Water early in the morning or later in the evening, when the sun is low and temperatures are cooler.
Avoid watering during the heat of the day — moisture evaporates quickly, and droplets on the leaves can act like tiny magnifying glasses, causing sun spots or leaf scorch.
💦 Water the Roots, Not the Leaves
Always aim water at the base of the plant, not over the leaves.
Wet leaves can encourage fungal diseases, especially in humid or shaded environments.
Using a soaker hose or drip irrigation makes it easier to deliver water right where it’s needed — and conserves water too!
🌱 How Much is Enough?
Hostas generally need about 1 inch of water per week, including rainfall.
During dry spells or in sandy soil, you may need to water more often — but always water deeply, so roots grow downward and stay cool.
