BUSINESS UPDATE
As of May 2025, RJJ Gardening is now permanently closed.

Sadly, due to health issues I had to make the difficult decision to close the business.

Thank you to all my past customers who kept me in business for 12 years.

For anyone who wonders why I’ve been quiet of late on here or who hasnt heard, this has been my life for the last 18 weeks and im sorry to say that it doesnt get any easier.

As you can tell, work is now impossible for me. I have a couple of people now finishing work/jobs I had booked in for this year and by the end of April I hope to have pretty much everything moved on and the business ceased.

It’s been an incredible journey and one I’ve loved every step of the way, but life has some unexpected twists and turns sometimes and I have a LONG road ahead of me health wise.

I do, however have a couple of companies that are happy to take on any work that comes in and if i didn’t trust them, then they wouldn’t be going anywhere near it.

Thanks all for the 12 years of memories/work you have given me along the way, its been a blast 🙂

Just wanted to update everyone on where I am, I’ve appreciated all the messages & people checking in on us, so thought I would just be upfront about the fact things won’t be changing for a while.

After a consultant follow up today, I still don’t have full answers and am awaiting some further tests, but what’s certain is that things won’t be returning to my post-operative state for months ahead.

I’ll have regular physio & pain management but I have currently been medically signed off any form of work/driving for a considerable amount of time.

It goes without saying that any parents worst nightmare is to see their children hurting in anyway, shape or form, but to receive life changing things that will effect the family forever is just mind blowing and fir that reason i have today put our name forward to help in anyway we can, being in ‘the trade’.

Id urge as many as possible to do the same, even if its to just add manpower as it puts my hospital stay over Christmas into perspective somewhat.

Nice little 8 panel replacement today, with the addition of cutting down a tree that had gone in the storms also for her. Very happy customer as was her daughter who had put out a ‘cry for help’ and not wanting to be ripped off as its her mum. :) 👌

So…….. that moment when you finish a lovely fence and all is looking great……… then 5hrs later we have a tornado and a tree falls and wipes the whole thing out. Hows your luck!! 🤦‍♂️ ah well more work now 👍

Its nice to get the small quick job in too sometimes. The ones where you can get in, get out, get paid and move on, but at the same time applying the same amount of care and attention that you would for the bigger ones. The fence job was done in a day and the deck was softwood, changed to composite for my nextdoor neighbour so nice and local 🙂 but both happy customers nonetheless

This week and last weeks job inbetween the downpours was to rip out an old and decrepid deck and replace with a new, much more solid one using 8x2 timbers due to a massive drop off in ground height and also 125mn square posts for extra support. Did away with the old horrible balustrade and replaced with diamond lattice trellis to finish it off perfectly. Another great result :)

We have today completed this frontal makeover whereby the customer has wanted a resin bound driveway for many a year, but also needed to change the whole aspect of the front, due to ill health (and not getting any younger ‘their words) but also having the need for wheelchair use as well.
So, in we stepped to widen the driveway entirely edged with charcoal block and then incorporate the incline gradient of the frontal area of the property to make a steadily inclining sloped drive/wheelchair accessible entrance to the front door, meanwhile trying to keep the drive and porch separate features. 2 new oak posts installed to replace rotting ones on porch as well.

all this done on the hottest period of the year so far and laying resin in that heat is by no means and easy feat.

Recently been working for some friends (inbetween having my garage broken into and losing the majority of my business maintenance wise about £4k worth) on and off and finally finished it today. Patio extension and new patio, with the addition of a new motorbike store (theyre going to roof/board it) and concrete base to boot.

This weeks job was another messy one with a jetwash, repoint (in places), resetting of some slabs and then a full bed clearance ready for the customer to plant some hydrangeas of her chosen colour 🙂 holes dug ready to just plop them in 🙂 not a bad result in 2 days.
