2025 was a hard year for us, like so many others. Duplex living with two rambunctious toddlers, deals falling through on three different houses for one reason or another, dealing with parents getting older & having health issues, the loss of Matt’s grandmother, and then the unbelievable loss of Matt’s younger brother. But mixed with the hard, we also had some wonderful things to celebrate: we had the birth of a new niece, things finally fell into place for our house we are working on now, watching the twins grow & flourish, my dear assistant, Sullivan, got engaged, and ALW, Ltd. has been busier than ever! But, that’s the journey of life, right? A mix of all different kinds of days: the good and the bad, so we are thankful for the gift of living each day with hope, however imperfect it may be.

It’s a funny thing about life in that it must go on. With all of the losses that were happening in the world around me, it did not feel right to celebrate. But, that’s life, right? That even amidst the hard times that good things still happen. Life isn’t all good or all bad, but rather a mix of all kinds of days that woven together. So, I will share some good news for us that is definitely worth celebrating— we got a house! We are now the proud owners of the most charming 1915 Colonial Revival Cottage in need of a lot of TLC! Get ready to follow along, as we share the progress of our fixer upper!

What day is it? What year is it? With the McTwins still out on break, I’m not 💯 sure, but they have gone to spend the night with their grandparents, so I have a minute to reflect. I had so many grand plans for the holiday season, including posting about achieving a designer holiday look on a budget (since all of my Christmas decorations are in a pod somewhere & I had to be creative with what I could get quickly), but, alas, there’s never enough time to do all the things that we want to do! 🫠 And, we certainly never dreamed that we’d still be in our temporary duplex living at this point, yet here we are, still rocking it; we didn’t expect our preschool to close mid-year; we didn’t expect my car to fall apart; and we didn’t expect the waves of cold/flu making the family rounds this December. Needless to say, our plans don’t always work out the way that we want them to or expect them to, BUT I know that God’s plans for our lives will always turn out for our best & better than our expectations but just maybe not how we thought it’d be. I’m so thankful for 2024 and this season, and I’m hopeful & trusting for a wonderful 2025! I hope that everyone had a very merry Christmas & wishing you all the best for 2025– cheers! Xoxo, AL
