Kate Hudson’s famous satin gown in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was custom-made by fashion designer Carolina Herrera together with the film’s costume designer. The soft butter-yellow color was specifically chosen to complement the legendary Isadora Diamond necklace worn in the film, creating one of cinema’s most memorable fashion moments. More than 20 years later, the dress is still considered one of the most iconic movie costumes ever made.

Before a single frame was filmed, Akira Kurosawa had already painted the world of Ran.

For years, he created hundreds of hand-painted storyboards, not as technical sketches, but as works of art in their own right. The film’s unforgettable colors, landscapes and battles were first imagined through watercolor and ink, long before they appeared on screen.

In many ways, Ran was painted before it was filmed.

In Dreams (1990), Akira Kurosawa imagined what it would feel like to step inside a Vincent van Gogh painting.

For the film’s iconic “Crows” sequence, entire landscapes were created to recreate Van Gogh’s world, turning his paintings into places you could walk through.
