Thrilled to share the design journey of a new abode nestled in the enchanting hills of Guatemala. This thoughtfully crafted home gracefully embraces the challenge of a 35% sloped mountain terrain within the lush Guatemalan forest.
With meticulous consideration, the house integrates harmoniously with the natural topography, featuring intermediate platforms thoughtfully aligned to the west boundary. This strategic placement not only preserves the existing tapestry of trees but also ensures a seamless connection between the living spaces and the verdant landscape.
Every room unveils panoramic views of the forest, bringing the outdoors into the heart of the home. The design philosophy strategically opens the living areas to the south, harnessing the sun's warmth to create a haven of climatic comfort in the midst of the cool and humid forest.
A paramount consideration was the creation of three independent and private spaces for the members of the family. Each unit, tailored to reflect the unique interests and occupations of its occupant, converges in a shared social space. This collective area serves as a nexus, fostering connection among the three women of this family.
The protected forest, a backdrop of green splendor, takes center stage in the social area. A sweeping glass frontage frames the captivating view, creating the illusion of floating amidst the treetops—a testament to the seamless integration of nature into the very fabric of the dwelling.
At the upper part of the property, a versatile lounge area with a Firepit sits beneath the starlit canopy. Ideal for yoga at sunrise, reading in the afternoon, or enjoying a glass of wine in the evening, this space seamlessly blends forest camping vibes with home comfort.
