Good hedging starts long before the plants go in.
Ground preparation is the foundation for strong roots, healthy growth, and a hedge that will thrive for years to come.

Loosen the soil, remove weeds, add organic matter, and give your plants the best possible start.

🍂 Green Beech Hedging, not dead, just winter mode 🍂

This is green beech in winter.

Those copper-brown leaves are completely normal and often stay on until spring, giving great privacy and shelter year round.

🌱 Fresh green growth will push through as the old leaves drop.

✂️ Ideal for neat, formal hedging

🏡🌿 Native Trees & Hedging🌿🏡

🍂 Why now is the best time to plant bare-root?

• Plants are dormant, so they settle in easily

• Strong root growth before spring

• Faster, healthier growth next year

• Much better value, than potted plants as no compost or pot included in the price.

• Can only be planted Nov-Mar while dormant

🌱 Garden-Friendly Hedging

• Griselinia (bare-root) – excellent privacy & coastal gardens

• Olearia – tough, evergreen, great for wind

• Elaeagnus – fast growing, great shelter hedge

🌳 Native Trees & Hedge Plants (Bare-Root)

Perfect for wildlife, shelter and natural beauty:

Hawthorn • Blackthorn • Beech • Rowan • Oak • Alder • Willow • Silver Birch • Guelder Rose • Holly

These are ideal for:

✔ Garden boundaries

✔ Wind protection

✔ Privacy from roads or neighbours

✔ Wildlife & pollinators 🐦🐝

People often panic when they see leaves curling after a frost, but that’s not actually the danger.

Leaf curl is a defence. The plant is protecting itself and reducing moisture loss.

The real problem starts below the surface.

If frost lasts three to five days without a daytime thaw,
the soil freezes and roots can’t access water.

Even though there’s moisture there, it’s locked up as ice.

The plant slowly dries out…
and that’s why frost damage often shows days after the frost has passed.

Potted plants are at higher risk, they can fail in just two to three days of hard frost.

Healthy roots are what matter most in winter.
