Busy busy busy getting ready for the big Open Day next Saturday 16th. Thanks to the sunny weather the roses have burst into bloom and the garden is glowing. So many orchids in the meadow we can't count them. We have helpers lined up to make tea and a new quiz printed off for the kids.... Just hoping for good weather on the day!

Martin Kiely, our local photographer, very kindly sent me some photos that he took at the Open Day on Sunday. They're magical, hard to believe they're our garden! By popular request, there will be a fourth Gardening for Beginners course on June 17th at 2pm. We'll be looking in detail at making your garden a good place for wildlife as well as how to keep your garden looking good and producing crops into late summer and autumn. And of course there will be tea, cake and craic!

Busy getting ready for the Open Day next Sunday... all the hedgehogs are in hiding for the Kids' Quiz, especially John B., who's hidden so well even we can't find him! The orchids are coming out in their dozens and so are the roses, it'll be great, even if we do need thermals and Wellies! So come along from 1-5pm, eat cake and enjoy the craic, and help two very good causes...

Wouldn't you know it - opening tomorrow for Burren in Bloom from 11.30-1 and the only orchid which has consented to bloom is the twayblade! But the rest of the garden is looking shiny, even in the showers, and there'll be tea in the pot and cake. So come along, you're all welcome!

Great afternoon Saturday at the second Gardening for Beginners session! Can't believe how lucky we've been with the weather. We covered a lot of ground, it's been great working with such enthusiastic people. The next session will be a week early, on May 13th, by which time I hope to be showing off my new propagation shed... :)

Gardening for Beginners Session 2 will take place on April 22nd at 2pm. I'm looking forward to welcoming my students back, plus a new one. Everything's growing fast in the garden and it's an exciting time. And of course, there will be tea, cake and craic!

Beautiful warm day for the first Gardening for Beginners session last Saturday Ten very enthusiastic gardeners came along and sowed seeds, tested soil, planted onions, drank tea and ate cake. Great time in the sun was had by all. Thanks to my glamorous assistant Alan for the tea-making and preparing beds and plants for the class. Looking forward to the next session on April 22nd!
