How do you make a green business greener? 🤨

You make tangible, scientifically based commitments to improve, and you back them up with investment and infrastructure.

As part of our 2026 targets, and thanks to a new collaboration, we've committed to recycling all our plastic plant pots and bags. We hope to develop sustainable landscape products from recycled materials to close the loop. Following investments in decarbonisation and robotics, our recycling commitment represents a significant milestone on our sustainability journey.

We recently spoke with Lynn Bradley from the Additional Needs Working Group Finglas about the impact this new sensory play space will have in Finglas.

This space is the second garden created for the Additional Needs Working Group, Finglas and was created to support children with additional needs and their families; providing a safe, welcoming environment where they can spend time outdoors, connect, and feel part of a community.

A huge amount of work has gone into bringing it to life, with Director Barry Lupton closely involved from the outset, and Project Manager Raivis Linins and his team leading the build on site.

It’s a great example of what can be achieved when people come together with a shared goal - creating something that will make a positive impact and lasting difference.

Safir joined O’Brien Landscaping with the attitude to learn and really get stuck in.

In a short space of time, he’s progressed from General Operative to Supervisor, and now Foreman, leading teams on site and taking ownership of projects.

That kind of progression doesn’t happen by chance. It comes from showing up, putting in the work, and taking opportunities when they come. And it certainly helps when you bring the kind of positive attitude Safir does every day!

Can you design and build a wellbeing and biodiversity space garden on an enclosed roof top in the middle of the one of Ireland's busiest hospitals? Sure, no problem.

We're always up for a challenge, and this was one for sure. Albeit a hugely rewarding one.

The new roof top courtyard, which sits in the centre of the Mater Hospital, will provide staff, patients and visitors with access to a vibrant, green, social space.

Thanks to everyone for making it happen. Well done all. .
