Green Saffron

Green Saffron We work ethically in local Indian spice farming communities to ensure a fully traceable, sustainable value chain. Cork, Ireland, 2006. Onward!

We source the freshest, most authentic spices to present the best Indian sauces, spice blends and rice. 100% natural, plant-based goodness. Green Saffron is a multi-award winning family business started by Arun Kapil in Midleton, Co. Married to Olive, a Cork native, they both share buckets of passion and a core belief that beautiful ingredients should be available to everybody; and so the pair set

upon a journey. It all began when Arun started attending Farmer Markets whilst cooking in the Ballymaloe House kitchens to earn his crust – selling highest grade, fresh, beautiful and authentic spice blends to an intrigued audience. The journey swiftly moved into a retail product with a presence in food specialist outlets. Today, Green Saffron's fresh spiced products are available in over 225 stores, including 140 Irish food specialists, Tesco Ireland, Supervalu, Dunnes Stores, Farmers Markets (Mahon Point and Ballyseedy) and Selfridges in London. Reach for the stars, grab a hold of your pans and shake the spice world by the scruff of its conventional collar!!

Expect deep dives into everything from the perfect Bloody Mary and K-Pop snacks for the kids, to the champagne-soaked drama of Below Deck, all mixed with live tastings, vinyl whiskey sessions, and a full-on spice rack showdown.

Featuring Cassie Stokes, Joe Macken, Louise McSharry, Shane Smith, Irah Mari, Graham Herterich, Aoife Carrigy, Arun Kapil and Reggie White - just to name a few.

Arun Kapil has been out and about. Mad for road, he’s out, off and at it, spicing up whichever venue he’s invited to. For this one, this Curry Night, he headed over the most brilliant in Clanfield, Oxfordshire. He thoroughly enjoyed it and so, by all accounts, did the wonderful guests. The Irish Food Writing Awards, which take place on November 13th in the RDS Dublin, are delighted to announce Green Saffron as sponsor of their Writing on International Cuisines Award. This award encourages and rewards journalism and food writing on the great diversity of cooking in Ireland, both at home and in restaurants and is judged by British Indian food writer Romy Gill, one the many prestigious UK and International media who make up the judging panel, ensuring impartiality.

Established to acknowledge the highest achievements in books, journalism, restaurant critiques, feature writing, recipe writing, photography, podcasts and social media on Irish food and drink, the awards are now in their fifth year and take place in November in the RDS Dublin. https://www.irishfoodwritingawards.ie/.

“We have such a mixed, diverse array of cuisines in Ireland, both in restaurants and in home kitchens” says Arun Kapil, CEO and founder of Green Saffron. “It’s so important to recognise excellence in food writing and storytelling - skills which help keep cultures alive. We are delighted at Green Saffron to sponsor the award of Best Writing on International Cuisines.”

“It’s wonderful to have Green Saffron sponsor this award” says Suzanne Campbell, founder of the Irish Food Writing Awards. “Green Saffron is a food company with great heritage - both as part of the Cork market scene and for bringing authentic spices sourced directly from farms in India into Ireland. We have long admired Arun Kapil and his passion for beautifully flavoured food, so it’s lovely to have Green Saffron sponsoring the Writing on International Food awards”.

Green Saffron works within farming communities in India to guarantee it sources only truly sustainable, ethically produced, new season crop, single origin spices. They produce the best, 100% natural Indian ‘desi’ spice mixes and sauces to help consumers make authentic Indian meals of immense flavour at home.
