From a passive transit zone into an active, engaging, and regulating environment:
This interactive sensory installation is designed to do exactly that. By blending tactile exploration, biophilic elements, and dynamic lighting, we’ve created a space that naturally encourages children to explore, interact, and move.
Instead of just walking from point A to point B, students are invited to engage their senses as they transition between classes:
Tactile Engagement: A dynamic, two-sided sequin tower offers immediate visual and tactile feedback, inviting hands-on interaction.
Biophilic & Interactive Growth: Integrated hydroponic towers and living moss structures bring nature indoors, introducing natural textures, grounding scents, and visual warmth.
Textural Architecture: Varied wood-block cladding provides a grounding, structural texture that begs to be touched.
Dynamic Lighting: Overhead truss-mounted colored spotlights create a playful interplay of light and shadow, defining the zone and drawing children forward through the space.
By designing for the senses, we can create therapeutic, sensory-rich environments right in the middle of everyday school architecture—encouraging positive movement, focus, and emotional regulation.
