Stop Killing Your Herbs! 🌿

Are your herbs looking a little sad? It’s probably not you
it’s your setup! Most herbs struggle because of poor drainage or lack of sunlight.

The Quick Fix:

Sunlight: Move them from full shade to full sun.

Watering: Water regularly until it drains out, and never leave them sitting in a saucer of water.

Drainage: Ensure your planter has great drainage to avoid "wet feet".

Want your Staghorn Fern to grow to this size too?!
Here are a few things you need to know:

1. Plant it in a coconut basket.
The staghorn fern wraps around the entire basket and roots from all sides, which helps it grow to massive dimensions.

2. Water it with drip irrigation.
In the summer months, connect it to your automatic irrigation system. It loves consistent watering, and this will help it grow much faster.

3. Place it somewhere with plenty of light.
Outdoors in bright shade is the perfect spot. Dark indoor corners will not work.

4. Fertilize with Boaz’s special fertilizer.
A unique formula with the perfect concentration, plus iron and micro-elements — everything a staghorn fern needs to reach this size.
You can find it at our nursery or order it from our website.

🌱 Simple Care Tips

Bright indirect light, not strong direct sun.

Water when the top soil feels dry, not on a schedule.

Use well-draining soil so the roots don’t stay wet.

Keep it slightly humid (they don’t like dry air).

Avoid sudden temperature changes' they drop buds easily.

To help it bloom: give cooler nights and longer darkness for a few weeks.

Always remove finished blooms!
To extend the blooming period of your cyclamens, you want to prevent the plant from producing seeds and “ending its job for the season.”
So whenever a flower stem is done blooming, remove it — this encourages fresh new blooms to appear again 😁

How to Grow Herbs Correctly? Everything Important You Need to Know to Succeed:
☀️ Sun, Sun, Sun! Your herbs must receive a minimum of 4 hours of direct sunlight per day! Without sun, they will wilt / shed leaves / not grow or not yield enough leaves for use. It won't work indoors unless you use a dedicated grow lamp—this is especially suitable for growing basil.

💧 Watering – Every Day! Daily watering is critical, especially in summer and in small planters. If you have an automatic irrigation system – excellent! If you water manually – be sure to check the soil condition every day and water accordingly. The larger the plant, the more water it consumes. For example: In our 12 cm pots, we water up to 4 times a day on hot days! In medium planters, watering in the morning and evening is usually enough. When you water, water until it drains from the bottom. If no water drains out, some of the roots haven't received water and the plant remains thirsty!

🪴 Good Soil and Drainage: It is very important to grow the herbs in well-drained soil to prevent root rot. Choose a high-quality potting mix and no saucers (unless it's mint).

✂️ Proper Harvesting – The Key to a Healthy Plant: Always pick the new, young branches – they are the softest and tastiest for use. In addition, this encourages the plant to branch out, grow densely, and stay strong and beautiful. ❗ It is very important to prune flowers as soon as they appear – The moment a plant starts to flower, it stops investing in leaf growth and directs all its energy to the flowers. We use the leaves – so it is better to prevent this from the start.

🌿 Fertilization: Herbs in pots also need nutrition! Add a suitable fertilizer once in a while – this will help them continue to grow and yield high-quality leaves.

To help your Hoya produce plenty of flowers and stay healthy and vibrant, you need to recreate the conditions it natural...

To help your Hoya produce plenty of flowers and stay healthy and vibrant, you need to recreate the conditions it naturally enjoys — warm, tropical regions like Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

☀️ Principle #1: Bright natural light – without direct sun

In the wild, Hoya grows under the tree canopy, where it receives bright but filtered light — not direct sunlight.
That’s why it’s best to place your Hoya in a spot with plenty of natural light, such as near a bright east- or west-facing window.
If it’s kept in a dark corner or too far from a window, don’t expect it to bloom — insufficient light is one of the main reasons Hoyas don’t flower.

💦 Principle #2: Consistent watering and avoiding water stress

Hoya won’t bloom when it’s stressed — for example, when it’s left too dry for too long and then suddenly flooded with water.
A plant that’s struggling to survive won’t have the energy to flower.

To encourage blooming:

Water regularly, adjusting to the season — in summer, even daily if the mix is well-draining.

Don’t be afraid to water — if it’s planted in the right mix, excess water won’t harm it.

Add a small dose of liquid fertilizer with every watering during the growing season (we fertilize with every watering in summer!).

⚠️ Important: If your Hoya is planted in a pot with poor drainage or heavy soil that retains water, daily watering can cause root rot.
We recommend planting it in a coconut basket or an airy pot filled with a light, well-draining mix such as coconut fiber, perlite, and a bit of peat.

🌿 Principle #3: The right soil for its epiphytic nature

In nature, Hoyas are epiphytic — they grow on trees rather than in heavy soil.
Their roots need airflow and should never be suffocated in compact or waterlogged soil.

So make sure to:

Use a loose, airy, well-draining mix.

Avoid regular potting soil alone — it retains too much water and can damage the roots.

Thousands of plants can’t be wrong — follow these principles and your Hoya will reward you with stunning blooms year after year 🌸🩷
