HoH Studio

HoH Studio HOH Studio is more than just an architecture & design studio. We explore the possibilities of a new way of living by offering Hope, Opportunity & Happiness

Hope:
We have with us a vast tradition of building which is rich, varied and ancient. It has been passed on from generation to generation. All of them are based on a material culture which revolves around the skill of the craftsmen. This heritage is slowly eroding and becoming irrelevant. At HOH Studio - we try to explore the idea of craft into simple contemporary everyday buildings and show that

material culture and skill are as relevant now as it was in the past. Opportunity:
Every project we undertake is an opportunity to develop ideas that are apt, sensible and needed. We innovate around the practice of building with local craftsmen, local skills and local materials thus we ensure social relevance which is the essence of a sustainable community. Happiness:
We believe that happiness is about well-deserved contentment, a contentment achieved through hard work, camaraderie and not over abundance. Our endeavor is to build such communities that are vibrant, self-sustaining and happy. Get in touch with us at

'No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love come naturally to the human heart than its opposite.'

Working on a large project allows us to spend a lot of time on site. This site has now become our home. The people have become one of us and we have become one of them. This spirit of belonging led us to do one of our most endearing and revered projects - a house for Govindamma.

We were introduced to her and her depravity by one of the village people. A domestic argument rendered Govindamma homeless and penniless. For the past fifteen years she was living in a hut made of dried banana leaves. She had to crawl to get in to the hut. When it rained, the roof would leak and she was not able to sleep indoors. She would have to sleep on rocks outside.

Govindamma is a part of our community and hence we decided to do something for her. With our accumulated knowledge and friends, we were able to build a little shelter for her. With some monetary contributions from the main office and time and skills from our local labourers, she finally has a proper roof over her head and well wishers for a lifetime!

A big thank you to all who made this dream a reality...
