Botanical Name : Buchanania cochinchinensis (Lour.) M. R. Almeida
Synonyms : Buchanania lanzan Spreng.
Common Name : Charodi, Chironji Tree
Plant Family : Anacardiaceae
Plant Form : Tree
Occurrence (Special Areas) : Indroda Park, Ayurvedic Udyan, Van Chetana Kendra
About Buchanania cochinchinensis Plant :
Habit : A tree, young parts with silky hairs.
Bark : Blackish-brown and rough.
Leaves : Thickly coriaceous, broadly oblong, obtuse, hariy below, base rounded.
Flowers :
Small, greenish-white, in terminal or axillary, pyramidal, rusty panicles, bracts small, caduceus.
Calyx 3-5 toothed, imbricate.
Petals 4-5, ovate-oblong, disk fleshy.Stamens 10, all fertile.
Ovaries 5, one perfect, conicle, hairy, the other 4 reduced to filaments.
Fruit : Drupe, oblique, black, stone hard, 2-valved, 1-seeded.
Flowering and Fruiting Time : January-March
Significance : Seeds are eaten and used as a tonic for brain.

Alangium salviifolium (L. f.) Wangerin , commonly known as Sage-leaved alangium is a flowering plant in the Alangiaceae family. It is also commonly known as Ankolam in Malayalam, Ankola in Kannada, Akola or Ankol in Hindi and Alanji in Tamil. In India, Its mostly found in dry regions in plains and low hills and also found on roadsides.
