Habit : A tree, young parts with silky hairs.
Bark : Blackish-brown and rough.
Leaves : Thickly coriaceous, broadly oblong, obtuse, hariy below, base rounded.
Flowers :
Small, greenish-white, in terminal or axillary, pyramidal, rusty panicles, bracts small, caduceus.
Calyx 3-5 toothed, imbricate.
Petals 4-5, ovate-oblong, disk fleshy.Stamens 10, all fertile.
Ovaries 5, one perfect, conicle, hairy, the other 4 reduced to filaments.
Fruit : Drupe, oblique, black, stone hard, 2-valved, 1-seeded.
Flowering and Fruiting Time : January-March
Significance : Seeds are eaten and used as a tonic for brain.
