I always look forward to this.

Being surrounded by art slows me down in a way few things do. I naturally move toward colour and texture and end up lingering on surfaces and quiet details that don’t ask for attention but stay with you.

This is a special renovation project we’re working on at KGD Studio. The brief was to connect the old rustic character of the house with a modern touch, without losing its warmth.

Arches form the backbone of the design. Detailed in hand finished plaster and inspired by Indian architecture, they soften the space and allow the old and new to sit together naturally.

The walls are finished in a soft dusty pink to bring in freshness and light while still feeling earthy and calm. The colour works effortlessly with natural materials and gently highlights the arches without overpowering them.

The space is styled with layered rugs, art pieces, and objects from the client’s own collection, making it feel lived in and personal. Indian elements come through subtly in materials and forms, while the coffee table anchors the room with its brass detailing and sculptural shape, inspired by traditional Indian vessels in a modern expression.

December always takes us back to the familiar red and green.
Maybe it’s something we’ve carried since we were kids. Wrapping paper, school decorations, winter evenings. The palette just stays with you.

When the tones are softened and the materials are layered, it stops feeling festive and starts feeling timeless.
It’s a red and green interior colour palette I keep coming back to and honestly would love to explore more in our projects at KGD Studio.

Saving this for later might not be a bad idea.

It’s trickier than it sounds, but that was exactly the brief for this home.
We leaned into texture, form, and lighting to bring the space to life. From the curved sofa to the subtle material contrasts, every detail was chosen to create depth and interest without overwhelming the eye. The result is a calm, refined space that still feels layered and full of character.

The entrance sets the tone—it’s more than a passage; it’s the first expression of the home’s identity. In every project, we approach it with clarity and intention.

We always focus on four essentials:

1️⃣ A bold focal point to create visual interest and set the design language

2️⃣ Functional seating that blends comfort with everyday practicality

3️⃣ Concealed storage to keep the space clean, calm, and clutter-free

I usually lean into bold moves — colour, contrast, statement pieces.
But some spaces don’t need any of that.
They just need to feel clear.

Muted interiors aren’t boring.
They give space for the real things to stand out —
the texture of a wall, the curve of a console, the way light moves through a room.

In this one, I stepped back on styling and focused on what really shapes a space:
– Honest materials
– Strong forms
– A sense of calm you can actually feel

It reminded me: sometimes, doing less makes the space feel more yours.
