Standing inside Ellora Caves feels like stepping into a completely different world. The scale, the carvings, the details… you can keep looking and still find something you missed. 🥹
And then you realise — this entire place was created centuries ago. Carved out of the Charanandri hills between the 6th and 10th centuries CE, these 34 rock-cut caves represent a stunning harmony of Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain monuments. The crown jewel, the Kailasa Temple (Cave 16), was built using a mind-blowing top-down excavation method—artisans carved away 400,000 tons of solid rock from the ceiling downwards with zero room for error, creating an architectural wonder that still defies modern engineering.
Ellora Caves are definitely one of those places you need to see in person to understand the scale of it. 🛕✨
