The interiors of the Grelling houses are a testament to the lifestyle and everyday practices of the local farming community.
While documenting these houses, we came across many small yet significant details. Be it in the old traditional incense burning area outside the Gumpa, or in the intricately shaped wooden logs to become hyper-efficient stairs - details were plenty, but always practical. Incidental spaces were also always used, such as the spaces for storing logs for firewood. In some cases, aesthetic touches adorned windows and other openings - even these had a strong underlying material logic.
In a way, it was a wonderfully grounded learning experience for SAVE.
