It’s hard not to laugh around Mahima, her energy is contagious. From the day she joined, to today, her growth has been amazing. One of my favourite travel buddies, I love eating, drinking and cracking jokes with her. She’s so warm, always smiling, hard working, and absolutely a pleasure for me to work alongside everyday ❤️

Closets are an extremely personal space and is purely used by the person staying in the room. It needs to be designed keeping the clients likes, needs and wishes in mind.

I thoroughly enjoy designing these spaces as we get to be quirly, fun, sophisticated and extremely experimental at the same time.

For the longest time Essajees Atelier operated from my fathers office. Our space was a small dimly lit corner with barely any natural lighting. I had made up my mind, whenever our team would expand to a considerable size, I would take an office space full of natural light and cross ventilation.

And voila! 7 years later, with tons of hardwork, determination and patience, we finally built our dream office. We moved in at the start of this year and it’s been the most beautiful journey since!

Our Mumbai studio resides in a lovely building at Nariman Point, and is spread across 1,250 sq ft. My vision for this creative office was straightforward — I wanted the space to reflect the firm’s ethos and work. Plus, it should feel like a warm cup of coffee - inviting, cosy and homely.

Our office has a reception area, a large ten seater conference table, an open workspace, a small meeting room, a pantry and two toilets. The material palette chosen is warm and earthy: Nexion tiles are laid on the flooring in the entire office with the exception of a wooden one in the conference and my room.
⠀
What adds character and life to the entire studio is the curated artworks and plants. These include the collection of bespoke paintings (by Artemis) spread across the focus wall in the main work station area. Another interesting painting is the one by Pakistani artist Madeeha Attari which hangs in the conference room.

Happiest at work 🥰🥰 I love love my job and seeing our dreams turn into reality on site is such a thrill. Helps to have clients who trust you and allow you the freedom to really enjoy the process. Grateful today and everyday for my dream job that is my reality ❤️

Apart from being a fantastic designer and super effecient, Trusha is one of the most well-mannered pepople to have ever come into my office. I remember once when we were all eating lunch with our clients in our office, and the food was finished, before I could even get up to clear the plates, and Trusha was already instinctively gathering everything off the table and to my surprise, asked my clients and me, ""can I get you anything else?"". I definitely do not expect my designers to help host lunch but she is so warm and inviting that she slips into that role without hesitation. My mother always told me that manners maketh the man- and Trusha is one of the most well brought up people I have come across. As a designer, she is so fast at her work that we often need to tell her to slow down because she makes everything look just so easy. She is also great at problem solving, and seeing her grown from strength to strength has been my absolute pleasure. Always laughing, joking, and a favourite of our office and definitely one of my favourites, we are blessed to have a gem like Trusha with us.

My journey at Essajees has been adventurous and fun right from the beginning with my zoom interview happening when I was with the worst internet connection in North east to us switching offices from Essajees to Abode & our amazing new office 🥰

I completed my first year with Essajees Atelier and also first ever handover project for Ishaan Khatter and the journey keeps getting better ❤️❤️

Another question I get asked a lot is about all of the courses that are out there. Since it has been more than 10 years since I studied in college, I am not fully aware of all the courses that are offered today but what I can speak about is what kind of things I am looking for when I’m looking at college students portfolios and what is important to get ahead in your career, which will help you select your university.
