Originally built in 1969 to house teachers, the Les Cases dels Mestres building near La Floresta School fell into disuse but remained significant to the local community. A neighborhood movement eventually led to its rehabilitation as cooperative social housing. The refurbishment added two new bays on each long façade, enhancing the building's identity while improving accessibility, room sizes, and energy efficiency. The new east wing features walkways and stairs that adapt to the steep terrain, guiding residents to their homes. The renewal of the children's playground at a large commercial facility transformed it into a captivating space named "SHANGRI-LA." Central to the design is a 25-year-old zelkova tree, surrounded by a spiral water feature reminiscent of terraced rice paddies. The white walls and water bottom echo the limestone terraces of "Baishuitai" in China's Shangri-La. Three-dimensional, freeform walls with circular peepholes and passageways enhance the playground's interactive quality.
