A nationally recognized craft and a growing rural enterprise held back by infrastructure, conflict and neglect, despite meeting the quality and compliance standards needed to reach markets across India and beyond.
The bottleneck is connectivity. Reliable roads are not just infrastructure, they are the foundation of livelihoods, entrepreneurship, education, and rural economies: the very backbone of national development.

Last week, while we were at IEF of CCS Niam, Jaipur, we carried a few October Pumpkin candle samples with us for Nila House and the Jaipur Rugs team.
The journey wasn't without its little surprises. A couple of candle jars were damaged during transit. We improvised, made the best of the situation, and were grateful that the samples still reached their destinations.
Among the pieces was a handcrafted Longpi Black Pottery vessel by Awo Machihan Sasa, Padma Shri (2024) and Shilp Guru (2008) awardee. It carries the story of a living craft, shaped by generations of Longpi artisans from Ukhrul Manipur, home to the Tangkhul Nagas.
Thank you to CIIE CO, 200 Million Artisans, and NICE Org for creating spaces where founders, artisans, and ideas can meet. Your support continues to open doors for enterprises like ours and for the communities we represent.
Here's to more conversations, collaborations, and meaningful partnerships.

In times of conflict, survival often becomes the priority.
Dreams pause. Creativity slows down. Communities carry grief, uncertainty, and fear quietly every single day.
Over the past years, Manipur has gone through deep pain. And like many small businesses and artisan communities, we at October Pumpkin-shi have also felt the weight of it emotionally, creatively, and economically.
Many of our artisans are not just craftspeople. They are village leaders, parents, farmers, caretakers, and people trying to hold their communities together during difficult times. There are days when production stops, and even hope itself feels fragile.
But even in the middle of uncertainty, something powerful remained: the hands that still chose to create.
A handcrafted pottery jar.
A candle poured slowly with care.
Small acts, but deeply meaningful ones.
And it reminded us why we started this journey in the first place.
Heritage is not meant to sit in museums. It is meant to live, evolve, and be experienced in everyday life.
Today, continuing our work is more than business. It is our way of standing beside our people, protecting indigenous craftsmanship, supporting livelihoods, and reminding ourselves that Manipur is still filled with beauty, resilience, creativity, and stories worth carrying forward.
Maybe healing does not always begin with big answers.
Maybe sometimes it begins with people continuing to create, even after everything tries to silence them.

Through close collaborations, we are building more than products. We are building continuity to ensure that artisans earn with dignity, and that traditions are not preserved in silence, but lived in the present.

2025 was a year of steady growth, learning, and meaningful collaborations for October Pumpkin Co. From strengthening our foundations through training and documentation to sourcing better raw materials across the country, the year was rooted in building responsibly.
We expanded our presence through pop-ups, expos, and markets, shipped internationally, deepened artisan partnerships in Ukhrul, and began building our studio. Key milestones included participation in national platforms, pitching at major conclaves, and winning the Kula Craft Revival Award 2.0.
What made 2025 special was balancing growth with rest, purpose with people, and business with family. As we step into 2026, we remain committed to our belief that the future is handmade, and to growing in ways that benefit artisans, customers, and community alike.
