Get your hands dirty!
Gardening brings a family closer together! I was taught by my parents how to get my hands dirty and garden, harvest and eat fresh. The tradition has been passed down to my kids who are now ages 15 & 13. We all help in our small garden that we started when we moved to Yokosuka, Japan in 2017. Currently we have blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, mulberry, jalapeños, peppers, watermelon, basil, thyme, cilantro, sage, rosemary, oregano.
My kids now know how to grow plants from cutting, grow from seeds, dry herbs to make fresh spices and so many life skills that they will be able to pass down to their kids. Even if you don’t have a yard you can still make a small herb garden for your kitchen. Just remember gardening sometimes takes some trial and error but in the end its worth it.
Recently my son, Riley thought it would be a good idea to sell plants that he has grown to help make money so he can go to more of the camps and events with Boy Scouts. He has learned so much from gardening to customer service & we are so appreciative off everyone that has supported him! We live an on amazing military base and so happy he can provide plants to the community at a fair price while earning money.
