“A morning to remember. Riding out the bumps that were carved into the dusty trails of from the tyres before us an seasonal rains, we drove into the sunrise. A gentle warm glow illuminated the horizon, seeping through the long sun-bleached grasses before us.
Jacob, our guide, received a call and immediately we made a 180, back to the other side of the conservancy. A cheetah siting. We had to travel around 15km to make it, but when we arrived, Zuri was still there. Lazing in the early morning light, his spots contrasted against the dried earth of the termite mound he laid on.
The next hour was ours. Just Otis, me, our guide Jacob, and Zuri. That’s the really special thing about Mugie Conservancy. You’re almost always the only ones there.”
