On the morning Kenya lost Raila Odinga, President Ruto signed eight bills into law.

A week later, he defended the timing, saying it was his constitutional duty already scheduled for that day.

"There was nothing done in the darkness," he said, insisting the country’s work must go on.

We are blessed to live in a country that has been shaped by the will, the leadership, and the vision of the Right Hon Raila Odinga.

With an unshakable faith in the values of our country and the character of our people, Hon Raila Odinga fought for our democracy and led the path towards our new constitutional order.

A peacemaker who always put country first, his optimism, strength, and humility epitomised the Kenyan spirit.

Hon Raila Odinga always believed that our best days are yet to come.
His was a path walked with conviction.
He bore the scars of struggle with dignity, knowing that freedom was not free and that truth often demands sacrifice.

His life was a testament to the enduring power of a vision grounded in the ideals of democracy, justice, and unity.
He was a man who refused to accept the easy path when the right path was harder.

There can be no doubt that Hon Raila Odinga was the most significant leader of our democratic experiment.
He carried himself with courage and grace and his voice, sometimes fiery, sometimes soft, always echoed with purpose.

Hon Odinga is no longer with us, but he has left us stronger and better.
We take comfort in the knowledge that he has gone to a better place, a place where rest awaits him.
His legacy in Kenya, Africa and on the world stage - as a patriot, a pan-Africanist, and a global statesman - is written in the sands of time.

A quintessential progressive and reformer, he fought for the ideals of human rights, democracy, the rule of law and inclusivity and economic opportunity for all until he breathed his last.

l have lost a big brother, a mentor, a confidant and a selfless patriot.
Every time l needed wise counsel, I turned to him time and again.
He never once failed me and told me the truth every time, even when the truth was hard.He has left us a solid foundation built on the rock of faith.
It is on that foundation that we shall find our way forward, inspired by his example, his legacy and optimism

Hundreds of Nyeri residents today took to the streets demanding the immediate impeachment of Governor Mutahi Kahiga over his controversial remarks celebrating the death of Raila Odinga.

The angry residents some on motorbikes, were on the streets of Nyeri town chanting “Kahiga must go!” while urging local MCAs to begin impeachment proceedings without delay.

They accused the governor of disrespecting the late Raila Odinga and dividing the nation at a time when Kenyans are still mourning, insisting that such leaders have no place in public office.👀

The Kenyatta and Ndegwa families collectively gained Ksh 12.4 billion in paper wealth within five days of trading after NCBA Group’s share price surged 38.5% amid takeover speculation involving Standard Bank Group, sharply lifting the value of the two families’ sizable holdings in Kenya’s third-largest listed lender.

The rally, driven by investor optimism over a potential premium buyout, pushed the valuation of the Kenyatta family’s 13.2% stake to Ksh 20.93 billion and the Ndegwa family’s 14.94% shareholding to Ksh 23.69 billion, reinforcing the continued financial influence of both families within the country’s banking sector.

🇺🇬 President Museveni Backs 86-Year-Old Gen. Moses Ali for 2026 MP Seat

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has handed the NRM party flag to 86-year-old General Moses Ali, endorsing him to contest for the Adjumani West parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections.

Gen. Ali, a longtime ally of Museveni, has served in various government roles and remains one of Uganda’s most experienced political figures. His endorsement, however, has drawn mixed reactions — with some Ugandans questioning the continued dominance of elderly leaders, while others hail his wisdom and loyalty.

The move reflects the NRM’s preference for veteran politicians as Uganda heads into another heated election season.

Adjumani West, known as an NRM stronghold, could once again rally behind the aging general, who many believe is seeking his final term in active politics.
