Happy long weekend, cuties!
Labor Day always feels like the unofficial start of fall to me. And then I remember Thanksgiving is really not that far away… how is that possible?
If you’re hosting this year and have been thinking about a new dining table or chairs, NOW is the time to figure it out.

Because realizing you need eight dining chairs a week before everyone arrives? A level of holiday stress I really, really do not recommend.

Guys, I get asked about custom upholstery ALL the time. Why is it so much? Is it actually worth it? Do I really need it? On and on.

The little scallop detail on the Declan is SO cute. It’s exactly the kind of thing I look for when we’re sourcing pieces for KKH.

I mean, look at it. It’s such a small detail, but that’s the stuff that makes a piece feel good. And when you start layering those little details throughout a room, everything starts to energetically work together.

Art should help personalize a space. It doesn’t have to tell you the whole story, but it should make you curious about it.

Who is she? Why is she here? What does she mean to the person who lives here?

I love a little mystery in a room. It’s what makes a space feel personal instead of overly designed.

Maybe it’s the back-to-school feeling of September, but I suddenly want everything at home to feel fresh again lol. I’m rethinking rooms, moving things around, and finding approximately 47 things I’d like to change.

Okay, THIS is how you have fun with traditional design.

Wallpaper everywhere, beautiful heirloom pieces, strong color… and then tiny sheep running along the bottom of the bed. And you all know how I feel about sheep lol. It’s the unexpected details that make me want to save a room for later.

Dark wood and white marble. I don't think I'll ever get tired of this combination. It's simple, but never boring. Sometimes you really don't need to overthink it.

As a designer, I have two secrets to making a room feel alive instead of flat, especially when you're leaning neutral. First, texture. It gives you all that visual interest while still letting the room feel calm. Second, one small pop of something unexpected, usually color.

Get those two right, and neutral never has to mean boring.

So much of my inspiration comes from traveling. I come home with more ideas than I know what to do with.

Let's just say a lot of that went into something we've been working on. More very soon.

Does anyone else have a color they always come back to? For me, it’s this blue. If you’ve been around for a while, you know coastal style has always been part of our DNA, so maybe that’s why. It reminds me of my roots, but somehow still works across so many different styles and seasons. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it.
