Private Residence, Petaling Jaya (2011 - 2015)

The site is located in a matured residential area in Petaling Jaya and sits on a slope overlooking the town. An existing house within the lot was demolished to make way for the new one.

The client appointed Budijaya Architect from Bali for the design work, whilst we were engaged as the submitting architect.

The design takes advantage of the panoramic view with major rooms organised and oriented towards it. From the front, the house appears as a modest single storey structure. But from the back, it reveals itself as a 3 storey structure nestled into the ground.

Proposed Mosque Renovation, Subang Jaya (2020)

A multipurpose area is becoming an important space in a mosque, as our society transforms due to modernisation and urbanisation. A mosque is no longer used strictly for congregational prayers and religious classes only, but also as community centre to hold social gatherings, sports activities, and even wedding reception.

Suitable location and flexibility are important considerations so that the space can be properly utilised into these different functions. It can be opened up and used as extra prayer area, and can also be screened off when other functions are taking place.

The existing multipurpose area for this particular mosque is a low ceiling area located at the front of the mosque. It was built as an addition to the original prayer hall. Several other additions and alterations around the mosque later has almost engulfed the original architecture of the mosque.

In this proposed renovation, the new multipurpose area occupies the same area, but column free and with clear boundary demarcation. The new position of ablutions and toilet amenities takes into consideration the qiblat direction, the female aurat, as well as the overall flow of the jemaah.

It is double volume in height for flexibility of usage and better cross air ventilation. Arches and screens with Islamic motifs adorn the new façade, giving the mosque a new identity appropriate for its function as a religious and community centre.

Pusara Negara, Presint 20, Putrajaya (2012 – 2015)

Client: Perbadanan Putrajaya

The design concept of Pusara Negara started with the iconic Bunga Raya, as a symbol that binds us together in this nation of ours. Its leaves and flowers inspire the shape of the building roof and façade enveloping the building.

The building consists of gathering halls and facilities for paying last respect to our statesmen and women who have departed. It is located at the entrance to Putrajaya Cemetery.

The building is like a gateway to the cemetery. A threshold from this temporal world to another. From the distance, its segmented forms and roof lines appear like angel’s wings beckoning the arrival of the deceased into a resting ground before the next phase of life.

Anyaman Residence, Bandar Tasik Selatan (1999 – 2016)

Anyaman Residence is a 372 units 3 blocks of 17 storey apartment with common facilities such as carpark, swimming pool, gymnasium, multipurpose hall, and playground.

Anyaman Residence was among our first projects. It was also our longest to complete so far due to land use and density issues which needed to be changed to make the project viable. The project finally took off in 2012 and was completed in 2016.

Ain5 Factory, Kota Bharu (2016 – 2018)

Ain5 is a pharmaceutical factory located in Pengkalan Chepa Industrial Area, Kelantan. As the number suggests, this is the company’s 5th factory block in the vicinity as they continue to expand their production capacity.

We were roped in as design architect to assist the lead consulting engineer in the façade design as well as on fire safety compliance of the building. The site consists of a main factory block and several other utility blocks. Our challenge was to create a unified and dignified look for the site despite the utilitarian function of the blocks.

Taman Casa Mekar @ Sg Merab (2016 – Present)
A 61 unit terrace house development at Sg Merab, Kajang

Stage: Construction

Developer: Worldwide Land Development Sdn Bhd

Mass housing projects are bread and butter projects for most architects. Similarly for us, Casa Mekar @ Sg Merab is one of them. Completion is targeted earlier, but extended towards end of the year due to C19.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Everyone has a story to tell. A story of who they are, their achievement in life, their struggles, etc.

As we brave the effects of C19 pandemic on our lives, and face uncertainties ahead, we decided that we also should tell our story. A story of our micro architectural practice, of the works we’ve had the opportunity to be involved in, challenges we encountered, and most importantly lessons we learned from each of them.

This is our story as we navigate through these difficult times.
