5am thoughts 🤍
It’s 5am. I am tired in a way that sleep alone cannot fix.
My body is carrying life, while my arms are carrying a sick toddler who doesn’t understand why he feels the way he does. The crying, the congestion, the discomfort — it all fills the room, and somewhere in between, I feel myself getting overwhelmed.
I am overstimulated. Touched out. Needed in every direction.
And yet, I love them so deeply.
There is this tension in my heart — wanting to give my very best to each of my children, but feeling like I am falling short everywhere at once. The house needs attention. The children need attention. My body is in pain. My mind is tired. And sometimes it feels like I could lose control at any moment.
But today I realize something important:
This is not failure.
This is a nervous system under pressure.
I am not “too emotional.”
I am overwhelmed, under-rested, and carrying more than one person should carry at once.
And in the middle of it all, I find myself whispering short prayers:
“Lord, help me.”
“Lord, give me patience.”
“Lord, I don’t know what to do.”
They feel small… but maybe they are not.
Maybe this is what dependence looks like.
Your Word says:
“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
Lord, I am weary.
And I am coming.
Not with long prayers.
Not with perfect quiet time.
But with open hands and a tired heart.
Right here, in the noise, in the crying, in the undone tasks —
You are still near.
Today, I release the pressure to be everything.
I will choose presence over perfection.
Connection over control.
Rest where I can, even if everything isn’t done.
I am still a good mother in this moment.
And You are still a good God.
