Imagine if I had started creating content five years ago. Where would I be by now?
By now, maybe I would have passed this stage.
Maybe I would have built a big audience.
Maybe I would have made it.
Maybe I would be so much far ahead than I am today.
But Wait.
Who says I would have succeeded five years ago?
Did I have the clarity I have today?
No.
Did I even know what I wanted to create content about?
No.
Did I understand myself, my strengths, my voice, or the kind of audience I wanted to build?
Absolutely not.
In fact, I can look at my own journey and see it clearly.
I started creating content consistently in January 2025 on my FB profile.
And even then, I didn't have clarity.
There were days I would sit in front of my camera thinking
“What am I even going to say today?”
Sometimes I will just stare at the camera.
Sometimes I will end up doom scrolling.
Then I switched to talking about Facebook growth.
I thought, Okay, maybe this is what I should be doing.
But 3 months down the line I realized
No. This isn't what I actually want to talk about.
And that realization led me to where I am now.
Talking about rebuilding my life from scratch at 30.
So when I think about starting 5 years earlier, I have to be honest with myself.
Maybe I would have quit so many times
Maybe I would have jumped from one niche to another.
Maybe I would have spent years copying what other people were doing because I didn't know what I wanted.
Maybe I would have become frustrated because I wasn't getting the results I expected.
Who knows?
The truth is, you cannot judge your past self with the clarity your present self has gained.
You might look back and think:
“I should have started earlier.”
“I wasted so much time.”
“I would be so far ahead by now.”
But you are forgetting something.
You didn't know then what you know now.
The experience you have today came from living, trying, failing, changing direction, making mistakes, and figuring things out.
So yes, maybe you could have started 5 years ago.
But maybe you weren't ready to sustain it 5 years ago.
And that's okay.
You are not 5 years behind.
You are starting from the level of understanding you have now.
Stop mourning the version of your life you could have had.
Take what you know now and build from here.
Because 5 years from now, you don't want to look back at today and say
“I wish I had started then.”
