Seeking Refuge in Allah from the Whispers of Shayṭān.

All praise is due to Allah, the Most High, the All-Knowing, the All-Hearing. We praise Him, seek His help and forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Him from the evil of our souls and the plots of Shayṭān. Peace and blessings be upon our noble Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, his family, his companions, and all who follow his guidance until the Day of Judgment.

Allah, the Exalted, says:

“And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Shayṭān, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”
(Qur’an 41:36)

This verse comes after Allah commands the believers to repel evil with what is better—with patience, forgiveness, and good character. Allah knows that when a believer tries to respond with goodness, Shayṭān becomes active, provoking anger, revenge, pride, and harshness. Therefore, Allah immediately provides the remedy: seeking refuge in Him.
The whisper of Shayṭān may come as:

Anger when wronged

Pride when praised

Despair after a sin

Doubt during worship

Allah does not say fight Shayṭān, but says seek refuge in Allah, because only Allah has power over him.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ practically demonstrated this verse. It is reported that two men were arguing in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ, and one of them became extremely angry. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“I know a word which, if he were to say it, his anger would go away: A‘ūdhu billāhi min ash-shayṭān ir-rajīm.”
(Bukhari and Muslim)

This shows that seeking refuge in Allah is not merely a statement, but a spiritual shield.
The Prophet ﷺ also said:

“Shayṭān flows through the son of Ādam like blood.”
(Bukhari and Muslim)

Hence, constant vigilance and remembrance are required.

Allah says:

“Indeed, Shayṭān is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy.”
(Qur’an 35:6)

And He says:

“Indeed, he has no authority over those who believe and rely upon their Lord.”
(Qur’an 16:99)

These verses confirm that Shayṭān’s power is limited, and tawakkul (reliance on Allah) nullifies his influence.

Imam Ibn Kathīr (رحمه الله) said regarding this verse:

“This is a command from Allah to His servants that whenever Shayṭān attempts to turn them away from obedience, they should seek refuge in Allah.”

Imam al-Ghazālī (رحمه الله) said:

“The whisper is the beginning of sin, and seeking refuge is the beginning of safety.”

Al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī (رحمه الله) said:

“No servant seeks refuge in Allah sincerely except that Allah protects him.”

Whispers are inevitable, but acting on them is a choice.

Seeking refuge must be immediate, especially during anger and temptation.

Allah is All-Hearing—He hears even the silent plea of the heart.

Allah is All-Knowing—He knows the whisper before it settles.

Brothers and Sisters, this single verse is a complete strategy for spiritual survival. Whenever you feel anger rising, desire overwhelming, or doubt creeping in, remember this divine instruction. Victory is not in overpowering Shayṭān by strength, but in running to Allah.

O Allah, we seek refuge in You from Shayṭān, his whispers, and his plots.
Protect our hearts from anger, pride, and disobedience.
Grant us remembrance that drives away evil suggestions.
Make us among those who rely upon You in every situation.
Forgive us, have mercy on us, and grant us peace of heart and steadfastness.
Ameen.

AL-ISRA’ WAL-MI‘RAJ

(The Night Journey and Ascension – 27th of Rajab)

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. We praise Him, we seek His help, and we ask for His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our souls and the consequences of our actions. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide; and whomsoever He leaves astray, none can guide.
Peace and blessings be upon our noble Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, his family, his companions, and all who follow them in righteousness until the Day of Judgment.

1. THE GREAT MIRACLE OF AL-ISRA’

Allah says:

“Glory be to Him who took His servant by night from Al-Masjid Al-Haram to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs.”
(Qur’an 17:1)

This verse establishes three foundations:

The journey was real, not a dream

The Prophet ﷺ was taken as a servant (‘abd) – the highest honor

It was Allah’s power, not human effort

Al-Isrā’ occurred at a time of deep hardship:

Loss of Khadījah (RA)

Loss of Abu Talib

Rejection and humiliation at Ta’if

Lesson:
When hardship reaches its peak, Allah’s help is near.

2. FROM EARTH TO HEAVENS: AL-MI‘RAJ

From Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa, the Prophet ﷺ was raised through the heavens.
He met:

Adam (AS)

‘Isa and Yahya (AS)

Yusuf (AS)

Idris (AS)

Harun (AS)

Musa (AS)

Ibrahim (AS)

Each stage reminds us:

This path has been walked by the righteous before you.

The Prophet ﷺ then reached Sidrat al-Muntahā, where even Jibrīl (AS) could not go further.

3. THE GREATEST GIFT: SALĀH

During Al-Mi‘rāj, Allah directly commanded the five daily prayers.
The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Prayer is the pillar of religion.”
(Tirmidhi)

Originally fifty prayers were prescribed, reduced to five by Allah’s mercy, yet rewarded as fifty.
Lesson:

Salah is not optional

Salah is the believer’s daily Mi‘rāj

Whoever neglects salah disconnects from Allah

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim said:

“Whoever wants to speak to Allah, let him pray; and whoever wants Allah to speak to him, let him read the Qur’an.”

4. TRIAL OF FAITH

When the Prophet ﷺ narrated this event, many mocked him. Some even left Islam.
But Abu Bakr (RA) said:

“If Muhammad ﷺ said it, then it is the truth.”

Thus he was named As-Ṣiddīq.
Lesson:
Faith is not only belief when things are easy, but certainty when things seem impossible.
Allah says:

“And We made the vision which We showed you not except as a trial for the people.”
(Qur’an 17:60)

5. KEY LESSONS FROM AL-ISRA’ WAL-MI‘RAJ

Hardship precedes elevation

Salah is the connection between earth and heaven

Faith requires submission beyond logic

Allah honors His servants in unseen ways

Relief comes from Allah alone

6. DOES ISLAM PRESCRIBE SPECIAL ACTS ON 27TH RAJAB?

Scholars such as Imam An-Nawawi and Ibn Taymiyyah clarified:

The event is authentic

But no specific act of worship (fasting or special prayer) is legislated exclusively for this night

Correct approach:

Reflect

Strengthen salah

Increase gratitude and obedience

O servants of Allah, Al-Isrā’ wal-Mi‘rāj reminds us that:

Allah sees our struggles

Allah elevates His sincere servants

Salah is our lifeline

Whoever wants honor, let him hold firmly to prayer.

O Allah, Lord of the heavens and the earth,
We thank You for the gift of faith and the miracle of Al-Isrā’ wal-Mi‘rāj.
O Allah, strengthen our connection with You through our prayers.
Make salah beloved to our hearts and light in our graves.
O Allah, just as You elevated Your Prophet ﷺ after hardship,
Elevate us after our struggles and remove our burdens.
Forgive our sins, accept our repentance, and guide our children and youth.
Grant us steadfast faith like Abu Bakr As-Ṣiddīq.
O Allah, make us among those who listen to reminders and follow the best of them.
Send peace and blessings upon Muhammad ﷺ, his family, and his companions.
Ameen.
