Things you need to know about yams now.
1. Yams are very dry now and have already started shrinking in sizes. This means that, the same yam that was big in December through January may just be average size now. It will get even smaller by may, June, and July.
2. Yams swells up now when cooked. This is means that even though they may seem smaller in sizes, they can still serve same quantity or more when cooked.
4. Yams if not stored in a well ventilated environment, gets spoiled faster now. This is because of the change in weather. Yams doesn't do well in extreme hot weather condition. Avoid storing in kitchens or unventilated spaces.
5. Yams are more expensive now than when they were been harvested. The prices or yams or anything for that matter are not static. Farmer are done with the harvest season which is considered the time of plenty. This means, prices of yams will only increase from now till new yams season. If you have been waiting for prices to calm down then it time to have a rethink.
I hope this helps.
