Our sister companies in Chile and Switzerland are wonderfully independent-minded. And that’s exactly why we love them.
Take transport, for example. In the Netherlands we move our segments the tidy way: four at a time, on our trusty Oeplegger. Switzerland, on the other hand, likes to pull off a stunt every now and then. This week they simply closed off a few tunnels and highways to transport an entire Wikkelhouse over the road for the very first time ever! At 4.6m wide, she needs just a little more room than your average tiny house… And in winter? They just bring in the helicopter.
Chile, meanwhile, transports its segments lying down comfortably through some seriously stunning mountain landscapes. Sometimes needing a bit more horsepower (or length) to make it up that final stretch of mountain, but hey, that’s the price of a view like that.
Here in our flat little country, we never could’ve dreamed this up. We’ll stick to our Oeplegger and the occasional boat. But secretly we’re a tiny bit jealous of these bold operations ;)
