How do you find the right floor for your project?

We recommend working through four key steps to find the right floor for your project.

Start with style. The look and feel you're after, from colour and timber species through to grade, board width and laying pattern.

Then the product. Once you know the style you want, we'll help work out whether engineered or solid timber suits your subfloor, environment and project.

Next, the finish. Natural oils, hardwax, stains or polyurethane each change how a floor looks, feels and wears over time, so it pays to match the finish to how you live.

And finally, samples. Seeing timber in your own space, in natural light, makes all the difference. You can request samples or visit our Auckland showroom to explore the full range.

Recently we’ve been in Herne Bay working alongside The Building Co on their multi-home build, supplying and installing European Oak from our Bespoke collection in ‘Putty’.

Putty is one of our prefinished products, so the boards arrive ready to go with no sanding or coating needed on site. On a job this size, that keeps each site moving without holding up the rest of the build.

Being prefinished also means the colour and coating are set at the factory, so the finish stays consistent across all the homes.

Seaview | A classic villa restoration in Remuera

A beautiful example of bringing an old home into the new while retaining its classic character details.

Herringbone runs through the hallway, entrance and stair landing, adding definition and drawing the eye without the floor taking over the space. The timber detailing carries onto the stairs too, with bullnose stair nosings that tie in to the character timber balustrade.

We've enjoyed working alongside QPC for years, particularly on traditional homes like this where there are always a few quirks and bespoke details to work through.

New European Oak. Original Kauri. One seamless result.

As part of QPC Build Group wider renovation, we installed prefinished engineered European Oak in Alba from our Origen Collection throughout the home.

The staircase was the challenge.

Rather than replace the existing floating staircase, we retained the original Kauri treads preserving the character and avoiding the significant cost of a full replacement.

Each tread was removed, sanded back and custom coloured to closely match the new European Oak floor.

Custom matching two very different timber species is specialist work, but the result ties the original staircase and new flooring together beautifully.

Sand Cloud Pavilion. Something truly unique.

Working alongside Patterson Associates and Lindesay Construction, we custom sourced, supplied and installed prefinished engineered Prime Canadian Maple throughout this stunning home.

Prefinished Canadian Maple isn’t something you see often. With its fine, even grain and naturally pale tone, it creates a beautifully understated floor that sits effortlessly alongside the concrete, glazing and surrounding coastal landscape.

A unique timber choice, and a great example of what can be achieved when the flooring is considered as part of the architecture from the outset.

This month, we’re back at a stunning Takapuna home we first worked on a number of years ago, where we installed genuine French Oak solid hardwood flooring.

This time, we’ve been called back to give the floors a refresh, fine sanding them back, epoxy filling where required, then applying a new custom stain and coating to suit the homeowner’s updated design preference.

One of the great things about genuine solid timber flooring is its longevity. Years later, it can be refinished and given an entirely new look while retaining the same beautiful timber floor underneath.

Devon will be giving the full rundown on what we're doing for this one soon, so keep a lookout!
